People who say life is peachy and wonderful have every right to feel that way. It’s your life. See it how you want it.

But if you choose to take this view, don’t be a hypocrite. Shroomery member dies from an over dose? Don’t feel bad about it or talk about how it’s unfortunate. Life is good and happy. You get cancer?. Don’t ask for my pity. You say life is good and wonderful.

Everybody says life is good and blissful until something fucked up happens to them haha.

Lol, just because you enjoy the overall path doesn't mean you can't accept being in any other emotional states - It is through the threadbareness of fucked up shit that one best strengthens their core perspectives on death and life. There are ways to approach & transform every event in life - even if it breaks you down for days - and make it into something that fuels you positively in the future.

And I don't give a fuck about anyone's pity, you're likewise free to feel like a sad sack of shit all the time "cause people die", even though you knew that was going to happen from the start :elmo:

The people who developed these mental approaches - daoists and zen buddhists 2400 years ago knew innate suffering much beyond what is commonplace in our lives - and yet their perspectives were so powerful as to transform all of it.

All I’m saying is pessimism and optimism are equally sad and pathetic.

Pessimistic people have accepted that life is full of misery and potential harm. Cancer, car crashes, deterioration from old age, you name it. Very crappy way to live life if you’re constantly aware of how harmful things can get.

Optimistic people, on the other hand, exist in two states-  delusion and hypocrisy. This makes them volatile and unstable because people can only delude themselves for so long. It’s like Robin williams - he constantly says optimistic and positive things but when life gets too hard, he offs himself. Same with Anthony Bourdain. “This soup is so delicious and godly! It is incredible.” Then he kills himself. If soup is so tasty, why kill your self? That’s quite  sad too. Optimists talk about how wonderful ice cream and birthday parties and the colour of leaves are but when truly fucked up things happen, those positive things don’t really give them much comfort anymore.

Well put.  I’m just sick of all the whimsical generic quotes and this faux-enlightened attitude.  It’s akin to giving unsolicited advice and it’s always these friends who fall the hardest at the slightest inconvenience and cry for help.  My life has been comically traumatic but I’m still one of the positive people I know, that is, I DO positive things, not say positive things.  I wouldn’t say I’m a pessimist I’m just realistic but to anyone who ever gave me advice I never asked for with regard to trauma they couldn’t possibly begin to understand, I say:  fuck off.

Still I don’t think you need to dig at robin and Anthony but I’m about sick of the “live love laugh” people.  They literally buy their personal affects of optimism at Walmart.  I wouldn’t say I hate them, but they make me feel more lonesome when they are around me.

For sure

As we destroy more and more of our natural habitat we will be forced to become ultimate masters of our surroundings. Living in floating cities, eating lab-grown proteins we can still thrive as a species.

From the evolutionary pov of genes it doesnt matter what form of life spreads throughout the universe.
Humans, algae, bacteria are all merely vehicles for replicating genes that we call "life".

Algae traveling through space on rocks are just as succesful as humans in spaceships colonizing new worlds.

There is a distinct difference between trying to 'force yourself to be positive' and completely rearranging your perspective along non-dualistic daoist and zen buddhist lines - in moving your perspective beyond the surface of events & emotions.

Emotional delusions don't exist as there is no definite emotional value to anything in reality, and chances are you just absorbed most of the cultural-emotional values and never questioned them.

Just because someone doesn’t have an inspirational art piece hanging in their living room doesn’t mean they’re miserable or don’t have an enlightened perspective that fills them with power.  I think we’re all saying the same things in different syntax’s

Isn't realism at its core the belief that reality exists in an objective state independent of observers -

So has basically been proven false by quantum experimentation?

I don't know about all that. I'm just talking about taking life at face value and making a sustained effort not to allow oneself to be deluded by the propaganda fed to us and the innate ramblings of our minds.

Which, it seems to me, boils down to the fact that sometimes it's shit, sometimes it's not, sometimes it's great. The middle path in essence. Too far/too long on either side will lead to a fall.

The human condition aint an easy one to navigate, that's for sure.

To have this view requires a fundamental lack of understating of life itself and your place in it.

Sorry bud, your viewpoint is vastly underdeveloped. Try doing some reading and looking into the history of this school of thought you find attractive.
