Venting vs weight from the start no venting. Same cooker with one quarter taped to the weight.

When you say:
'If using a bigger jar you won't need to birth the cake at all because there's no dry verm barrier. Just add some verm to the top and moisten it'
why won't there be a dry verm barrier in the first place? According to the PF TEK that you posted you have to put the dry verm layer on top?
I'm confusion

Not necesarily. You can skip the dry verm layer and use a filter lid if you want. Helpful for larger jars because they work better when not full with brf. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25110988

Quick autistic noob question that I didn't see an answer to after reading and re-reading all parts of the TEK multiple times: When Spawning to bulk (using BOD's Easy AF monotub and coir TEKs), do the cakes need to be dunked and rolled before being shredded and mixed? Appreciate the help, and really excited to get started!

Nope, dunk wouldn't hurt but not necessary. Rolling would be completely pointless. Also skip the consolidation time if using cakes as spawn

To prevent side pins, would it be worth wrapping the edge with a black bag?

Can anyone tell me if they think jiffy mix would work better or as good as the verm on top? I used the last of my verm on the jars and got my PC finally so grains it is from now on. Just trying to save myself from buying a big bag of verm for half a handful. If it won’t work as good I would rather spend the 5 dollars though.

I don't think it would work better or as good, I think it would work worse. Getting a new bag of verm means you could use it with coir for substrates afterwards.

Sounds great gonna give it a try. This will be my first grow. Just a little confused wether or not you dunked them before you put them back in the jar and also how do you water them? Just by misting the inside of the bag. And for the bulk method do you need to water at anytime before mixing with substrate? Or just use substrate at field capacity? Thanks. Really excited to get into this hobby.

How do you water them in the jar. Or do dunk then put them back in the jar

Thanks for the guide, I'm doing this tek but the bulk version (where transfer over to shoebox after) but had a few questions so I know for next time. When transferring over to the shoebox, it says your suppose to do it before the consolidation period, what happens if you transferred them when they already had little pins coming out? I guess I waited too long but didn't realize it since only about half the jar has consolidated (turned white) while other parts didnt change at all (so I guess I thought they were going to spread eventually but didnt). Also, what is typically the reason for that if they didnt fully spread throughout the jar so I know for next time?
I only had 6 half pint jars, so I used 1 brick of coir and split 3 jars/3jars of coir into 1 shoe box (and the same for the 2nd box). Was that okay or is it recommended to put it all in one shoebox next time? (For reference here it is after one day transferring it to the shoebox)
also is that bag enough/too much for airflow you think?
