Question about consolidation and potency

Hello friends. I was reading an old post by primalsoup (link at the bottom)talking about longer consolidation in tub after spawning to bulk increasing potency of fruits. Is this still a belief that people hold? I know a lot of people are fruiting at spawn now and just calling them growing conditions. Which is what I am doing using a shoebox tek. I really only ask because I got some super impotent fruits and am wondering if I could let it sit before cracking the lid and starting misting. Any info would be appreciated. Much love.

I'd say potency is heavily reliant on genetics and drying promptly after harvest

If you provide adequate conditions for mushrooms to grow and they still aren't strong, that's genetics or your drying process is fucked. Sometimes you can get unlucky with genetics :sad:

I don’t really believe that. Sometimes spores are just duds. I’ve had bad luck the past 2+ months looking for good genetics.

Duds as in they don't produce at all or duds as in low potency??
Maybe try another vendor???

It just takes time. It’s all patience. Not all the plates you inoculate are going to germinate. And not all the plates that germinate are going to be winners.
I don’t think my syringes are the problem. Sometimes you just don’t get lucky.  I’m waiting for some fresh pins right now so I can take some clones.

I know it’s mostly genetics. Still wondering if consolidation helps tho. My last 4 golden teacher tubs have been weak as fuck. Ive got 5 more coming till I find one that packs the punch. I just know a lot of trusted cultivators advocate consolidation but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen anything about it. Was wondering if there’s a recent consensus on consolidation and potency

I don't think its currently seen as a mandatory thing for tubs. I had a consolidation period on my last tub and the potency was exactly where it should be. The next one I won't do it. Maybe you just have a higher tolerance for psilocybin than average. I have friends that have to take 2g more than me for the same trip, you also have to consider your genetics.

Potency is up to genetics. You preserve potency by drying quickly.

Consolidation is more to make sure your sub is 100% colonized than anything else. It's not needed at all for tubs.
