WBS Jars With or Without Vermiculite?

Hey everyone, disclaimer i'm a noob

My questions is: do you need to put vermiculite in the bottom of a WBS jar to soak up the extra moisture? I did this with my first jars and they are going well, but when I prepped my next set of jars I forgot that step. Should I go through with it anyway? I've attached a pic of one of the jars after PC'ing so you can see the amount of moisture at the bottom. My intuition tells me that this is way too wet. My options are: Take the wbs out, add verm and put the wbs back in; inoculate the jars without verm and see what happens; or take the wbs out, try to dry it some more, and then re-load the jars. Any advice on this? Thanks!

You are adding too much moisture if you need a hack - like adding verm. You are going to contaminate the jar if you add verm now. You could resterilize after, but honestly focus on getting your grains perfect. If in doubt, err on the side of dryness rather than wetness.

How can I reduce the moisture during the grain prep? Soak for less time? Is there a good approach for drying the wbs after its been simmered? If I added verm and then reloaded the jars with the WBS and PC'd them again would that be sterile? Also, does PC'ing generally take any moisture out of the jars? Thanks for your help!!

After you soak/simmer let them dry out in a collander or pan or something. You want'em to look dry before loading into jars.
Pc'ing doesn't change the moisture content of jars. Grains jars tend to look wetter when they come out, but it clears up in a few days if they were prepped right.
e/ Paper towel test can help. This is the oat prep thread but same idea. He says 30-60 minutes but many let it dry longer. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24126032/fpart/1/vc/1/nt/45
