Noob problems

Bad morning with my cakes let me tell ya. I got off work and checked on them and some had some very beautiful pins that grew amazing over night. I just HAD to take a picture so I decided to turn the cake and bumped one of them into the perlite. I tried to gently wipe most of it off the cake but I’m not sure if it all came off I’m worried It might mess the cake up. And When that cake fell it knocked a few pins off of another cake and into the damp verm on the jar lid and I’d have to take the whole thing out to dig for them. My lid was off the FC for a solid 10 minutes as I panicked to try and fix my mess. Did I screw this up or am I overthinking? Should I take that cake out and dig for the fallen pin? I really really don’t wanna mess with them anymore than I already have. Damn impatience

It's not going to hurt them to actually touch the perlite, but if you knocked them hard enough you might stun their growth or have them abort. You might get some bruising from handling them too rough, but believe it or not, I've read from trusted cultivators that if you can manage to attach back the pints to the cake it's possible it'll grow back on and either continue to grow or just abort as well.

Lol don't worry too much! You might get some aborts from the distress, but overall your cakes should be fine. Let them finish this flush, dunk them, and give them another go. Cubes can be very forgiving and resilient.

Thanks y’all I figured I was overreacting. And about that “pin” I was trying to get a pic of... well it grew very well over night and ended up tearing its veil so I went ahead and picked it to begin drying. Does the mushroom look healthy to you guys? The only thing I can think of that’s negative would be the fuzzy feet.

Looks great! fuzzy feat doesn't matter, you can dry the mushroom and it'll come right off.

Thanks man I appreciate your reply. I have one more question..Will storing my dried shrooms in the dark at room temp be okay? I don’t really wanna put them in the refrigerator unless I have to.

Jars preserve better I think. If you have to use plastic bags at least double bag it and use a dessicamt package either purchased or from a dry food package.

I’m using an airtight bpa free 8 cup plastic almond container with a couple packs of desiccant. Store didn’t have any airtight glass jars in stock this morning but I’ll be sure to pick one up if the plastic is a bad idea.
