Question on popcorn tek

Hey, first attempt at cultivating mushrooms and I have chosen the popcorn tek. Everything is set up properly, but I was wondering if I can fruit the mushrooms directly from the colonized corn. Basically, is the corn enough nutrients to get a successful psilocybe cubensis harvest. If not, what would substrate do I need to add the colonized kernels to?

My experienced advice is do not try that. When you try to grow directly from grain spawn what normally happens is it dries out into a useless brick. Mycelium growth using most of the moisture content that was initially in the grain when you made the jars. The 2 main factors for using a substrate are: 1 you are adding more nutrients and getting more out of your grow and 2 you are adding a substance that holds moisture. IMO the grain you use doesn’t matter at all and neither doesn’t the substrate. Coir on it’s own mixed with a tablespoon of blood meal works great for me and it’s cheap but I should add a little Verm into that equation. Whatever substrate you use, PASTEURIZE IT. Do not stearilize it. If you are unfamiliar with pasteurization do about 30 mins of research.

Nah man you got most of that mixed up.
Fruiting from grain will not leave a useless dry brick, if you ever fruit from qt jars you know what I mean, never ending flushes.
Also choice of grain matters, Rye is much more nutritious that popcorn for example. Also coir and verm dont do anything in term of 'feeding' the organism. You don't have to sterilise nor pasteurise coir and verm.
