Are they ready for spawn?
    #25597751 -

hi there!

first time doing rye, is this good to go? I'm planning to spawn them this friday.

on first picture you can see parts of very few rye berries that didn't colonize so far.. thats all i can see that is not covered in white

MS .. inoculated 25days ago... shook at 30%, myc recovered in less then 24h..

Personally I would spawn them. I see slight signs of bacteria, which will happen when you puts spores straight to grains. I would still spawn that though without fear. Just make sure your sub is closer to the dry side than over hydrated. Slightly dry subs slow down the spread of bacteria. At least this is my theory as I have worked out, based on lots of tubs and personal experience, that as slightly dry sub, and not very dry, just not much water at all when you hive a hard squeeze. Also spawn to fruiting conditions. Keeping the CO2 low while NOT over saturating the sub, gives you the best chances for the mycelium to out compete bacteria. The issue of bacteria is that gives mold a possible entrance into the sub. But once again, I would spawn those and expect to get fruits off them doing it my way.

It seems like over hydration + high CO2 is trichoderma's ideal conditions. where as cubes will go great in low CO2 and just fine in a slightly dry sub. You will probably mist daily, but it helps put conditions in your favor for getting fruits fast.

Can you point me where do you see bacteria ?
My plan is to spawn those 3 jars with CVG in two days, after mixing it put lid all the way on and let it be if i saw fuzz or tiny stems i can always flip the lid to boost fae.. but i will aim for dryer sub... 375g coir + 1.5L verm + gypsum and add about 2.5L water.. that should be fine? I will go for 1:2 rati

You cant see the bacteria. I just see mycelium growth that indicates there is some bacteria in there. This is something not so easy to explain online, but something I have learned after growing over 100 tubs. I would say there is not very much in there and you shouldn't worry. I think your well below the threshold of it causing you issues. Just don't make your substrate over saturated. I have found the hydration of the substrate to be very KEY in getting shrooms over contamination, and this is even more important if your spawn isn't 100% perfect.

It is more that top jar with the uncolonized portion of grain. That can indicate a bit of bacteria on the grain. In the big scheme of things I count that as clean enough to spawn, like 99% clean, and mold free.

As the mad hatter said, the uncolonized rye berries that didn’t colonize are probably a sign of bacteria, however I would say spawn it anyways especially since you’re spawning to CVG (that stuff is magic). I’ve spawned a brf cake that had a solid 1/10 of the jar uncolonized after a month and it turned out fine

Looks good enough. Spa2n each to its own shoebox and keep learning.

They will be fine. I get away with spawning worse than that.
