Monotub conversion to SGFC?

Can I convert a 40-quart monotub (with six holes) to a SGFC simply by drilling lots of holes in the bottom and top and adding wet perlite? Would this work or would a 60-quart one be better with the all the small holes as per spec?
Is the most important flow of air from the bottom to the top to suck moisture out through the perlite?

In theory SGFC is supposed to wich sir from underneath out trough the top but who can demonstrate that this is so?

60qts works good, i've read that even 20qts work . For most people the bigger the better because of space.
Yes, that is the direccion of air flow due to the differences of pressure, so the bottom holes are very important. follow the tek and you will have success

Alright... might get two 40 quart monotubs and just stick them together with the top one upside down...Then I would have 80 quarts 😉 Cheers

Want a chamber appropriately sized for the number of cakes you're doing... space them 4" or so from walls and one another... easier to maintain humidity if you limit space per cake... I've seen more noobs having success with Mateah's humidity chamber , which has the added advantage of not requiring modification

Thanks Caps, It is for pan cyans, hence I am not sure if Mateah’s chamber would have enough aitlr flow. I did have some regular 60 quart SGFCs a few years ago that worked with hydrated perlite in the bottom, but I threw them out and was hoping to modify existing monotubs

Humidity Chamber has adjustable FAE. Ranging from too little to too much.

Thanks Mateah,
Nice simple concept... I like it. But have you had luck growing pans in it out of curiosity?

You haven’t had any issues with coco going mouldy?

Just do trays of Pans in a mono. I did some Pan Bisporus that way not long ago.

An unmodified mono, or one with six holes and polyfil? With nothing on the bottom as a humidifier?
Cheers

No I haven't but I don't see why Pans wouldn't fruit just fine in a HC. Quote:

Nope and I don't think over saturated coir can harbor molds. too wet climate for your typical molds.

Awesome. Makes scalable grows easier, as perlite only seems to come in 100L bags, which is a shitload for an apartment 😬

Hey 36fucking5, Do you have a grow log or a link to how you did it? No perlite?

No perlite. A tray with spawn and sub, cased. Drop 2 inside a regular-ass 66 qt mono with Polyfil. I'd say you probably actually need to use 2 trays to create enough RH in that space.
I'd like to reiterate how little of a plan I had when starting these. It was super easy this way. Other Pans might need slightly different stuff, like you shouldn't mist them directly for instance, but I think you can dial in enough FAE to make it work.
CaptainFuture has fruited a lot of exotic shit in bags in a mono like that. That's where I got the idea. IDK how much he has here but he posted a lot on Mycotopia back in the day.

Well that is a darn side easier than Blue Felix’s misting and heating apparatus! Nice and simple too. I wonder if that would work with an unmodified tub too.
