I try to get just plan seed.
But you can still rinse it well (wash it in a seive)
Is it the one with coloured chunks in?
I hate that stuff, the coloured lumps go gooey.

Yep. Though next time try to get some with out the additives

Copper sulphate, sodium selenite manganous oxide, don't sound too great to me :/
But a good rinse should get rid of most of it.

The copper sulfate and sodium compounds are anti fungal, so you'll definitly want to get rid of those. Wash it THROUGHLY or you'll get nada.
CHeck your bulk bird foods....i found that the cheapest parakeet seed had overwhelmingly white millet with some canary seed for like 45 cents a pound, with no additives. Just a thought.

If you go one step furthur and simmer the seed over medium heat(in water)you will be more likely to remove all the extra stuff that is most likely water soluble. Just simmer for about twenty min, then rinse under cold water in strainer thoroughly and you should not only get clean seed, but after it drains for a while perfect water content as well.
