13 days and growth out your inoculation holes? I would bet that's mould. What's the rest of the jar look like?

Yeah I've never had mycelium colonize my dry verm barrier...something went awry.

Maybe your verm barrier got wet somehow?

Yeah that would be an unnerving site to see haha.
Maybe isolate the jar and see how it progresses? I've had a few contams in my few years with the hobby but not enough to be an expert per say. If I have the means I normally let any questionable jars progress to the point where I can verify they're trash without a doubt.

Curious, what's the temp inside your incubator?

Nah that shit is fucked. 2 different types of myc growing in there. 1 is cube the other is something fucked like cobweb or pin mold.

Word. Life can get ya sometimes haha. I've never used and incubator myself. I've always just left my jars on a shelf in my closet till they're consolidated. Room temp being anywhere from 68-74f.

Make sure when you do this do it out of your grow room. Outside is even better. Then clean it before bringing it back into the house. Dont wanna spread mold spore all over.

Yeah man. Winter time here. My house sits at like 60 lol. I like it cold.  But the jars take way too long at that. So just went and got a aquarium heater. Has been working very well actually.

I plan on doing it in my backyard and just dumbing the substrate in my ground. Maybe next summer some mushrooms will pop up lmao

Yeah I could see why an incubator would help in your situation.
What are your plans for fruiting then if your place is so cold?

I've been doing that with all my spent cakes and such. I buried them in my compost spot. It's been a few years and no luck yet. Maybe you'll have better luck!
