There was a race last year in Virginia that ended up tied. Tens of thousands of votes and it was tied. Not only that but the state House was evenly split and whoever won this race would determine who controlled the state government. The winner was pick by a hat draw.

When you vote, you are passing your own responsibilities and power to people you have never met in a plea that they will give you back a cut of what you handed over to them because of their choice of words.

To pray is to accept defeat. Power pisses on the weak.

Plant a tree instead of voting this year. You will have made a far greater impact on the future.

I hate to agree with you, yet I do. I don't vote, however I have bequeathed my vote to my mums choosing before because she really believes in it.

Where I have to disagree with you is where you suggest people do what you do.

It's not. I'm merely suggesting trying something different; whatever that might be. Anyone with a hopeful vision of the future and a realistic understanding of the past should see clearly that voting and appointing power does not and will not get the job done.

Can we see some sources for votes actually counting for anything? Doesnt the electoral college basically nerf anything the public wants to do via corporate bribes?

Am I missing something here? What sane rational person would still vote in these days?

Idealism at best. There are real world, practical reasons for voting. Things that effect people on a day to day basis.

You are not passing responsibility over. To think you are suggests a worldview that is not entirely consistent with what is actually going on.

You give consent to the government whether you vote or not, merely by existing within it and being a beneficiary of it's advantages and disadvantages. Choosing not to vote does not in any way relinquish the control society has over your being. It does not confirm consent any more than anything you do normally.

Symbolically and ritualistically, you are. It is a symbolic gesture of having taken a part in the choices the government ultimately chooses for you. They would never relinquish that power but voting is symbolic that they have it and that you are complacent with it.

I would argue that thinking you ultimately have a choice in any electoral matter suggest a worldview which is entirely inconsistent with what is actually going on. It's systematic and, in most areas, on auto-pilot. It is "back and forth, work the middle".

I can agree with this. Paying taxes, following the law outside of your own moral guidelines, shopping at stores, eating from supermarkets, driving a car, using privatized Federal Reserve currency is all relinquishing control. Everything you do within the confines of the society is.

That said, is ingesting Psilocybin (a schedule 1 substance I am sure we have all partaken in) not an example of actively questioning and undermining the government's authority?

Well the government seems to claim that you have no business ingesting it and that you should be thrown in jail for merely possessing it. Logically, by going against the government's claims and rules you are naturally questioning and undermining its authority.

Often it is the most simple acts which shed light on the absurdities of the system at hand.

I voted today. I voted for medical marijuana.

And I also voted all democrat. “Hands off my Medicare!” Is what I say to Republicans. Republicans trying to take away health care based on pre existing conditions oh hell no I had to vote Democrat.
