Panaeolus Cyanescens - Jamaican fruiting circles of color?
    #25592532 -

Circles of color.. wtf. Does. That even mean? Anyway...

What causes this?? I've seen the fluffy overlay (me and every other copandia cultivator wannabe) show a touch of sky blue - first time seeing it was line, "oh that's pretty. Hungry there, little fella?" *Spray outsides of dome* - next morning - at the epicenter of the bluing is my least favorite color...green....

Anyway.. these pictures are 4-5 days after first noticing the discoloration, so unless it's done other contamination underneath, I really don't think it's contamination? I think personally it was just where the humidity dropped down and soaked the casing & substrate? Now it's just bring absorbed further and further out??

What should I do for this poor bastard? Is she a goner?

Here's the overall/full tray:

On another note.. what can I do to push past the barrier I've found: I start to see pins, and I'll even get a couple fruits, but that's as far as I get until I check my trays one morning and BOOM. green green green....I'm starting to hate the color green so much that I think I'm turning Republican...

Oh - and I guess I should mention.. The beads of liquid.. I've been calling it grasshopper spit.. heh. In the darkest parts of the overlay (IS it ACTUALLY overlay, btw?)

Here's a pic:

One more thing.. so when I first noticed these areas were expanding, I noticed an excessive amount of moisture in thee darker regions, and thought I would try to create a larger area for moisture to escape from by slicing little lines into the dark blue/green areas.. like so:

And this spot is the only area that did not grow further.. ? Anyone had this issue/tried this as a solution?

*Scratch scratch*

Damn thing was beautiful prior to this B's..

I'm gonna keep it around though because swear it's healing.? The overlay is dying but underneath is doing well..idk.. soooo annoying. Idk how people grow the things? How do you successfully grow these? The VERY first one I grew I got a great first flush.. That was it..?

Should I not use a garbage bag liner?

Stop!

Ehhh its probably getting eaten from the inside out by the nasties.

Maryfairchild, germs, V.L, blue helix do stuff with em. Theres a whole thread on them.

What you grew pans on your first go? Impressive....

Keep the liner if you want its irrelevant, its hidden tams in your culture. You really gotta be on em till theyre clean, a day or 2 of neglect can fuck it up were you cant get the germs out. You can see the very leading edge using the light to refract.

Maybe try pf tek an clone fruits to have a clean culture?

Ohh yah - sorry for the extremely late reply.

I took a year off to start done shiitake logs and a king Stropharia patch.. contaminates had been a huge issue..

Last year it was green mold.
I just started up some myco bags and tried rye berries to see what all the fuss was about

So far? Hate em. Lol
No green mold but almost every bag had had a bacterial issue... I can smell that dirty gym bag smell on most of my bags I just sterilized.

But yes they VERY first time I grew Jamaicans they Flushed like 6 times and it was beautiful. That and one other BRFHPOO grow have been the only other time..

It's like I'm going backwards. I had MUCH more success in the previous years, and now it's like... Why even effing do this anymore.. I'm growing contams...
Ha..

Anywho. If o can figure out why I'm getting bacterial contamination I'm hoping it will put an end to the bullshit so I can actually GROW mushrooms....

How much rye are you putting into your bags, and how long/what PSI are you sterilizing for? You should not be getting any funky bacterial smells off freshly sterilized bags, and should in fact be able to keep them around as is (if properly sealed) for quite a long while without any issues at all.
