Yeah. It wasn't a bad movie, but as I understand the rest of the band were producers so they whitewashed a lot of the shit. Freddie didn't get AIDS by drinking coffee and going to church. They downplayed some of his excessiveness I think. He was living in Munich for a couple of years going to gay clubs and stuff, the movie made it seem like a few weeks or something.
Similarly, it felt like they were trying to cram too much in. There were a lot of important moments that felt a little forced and rushed in the interest of time.
This youtube video is a little more documentary than drama, but I still think they did a better job. The Bohemian Rhapsody Live Aid scene was far superior though.

I guessed that I’m of the opinion that cinema is a special medium that necessitates occasional concessions. The message of that movie may be trying to convey that the debauchery was not his identity nor are all events that transpired indicative of the band’s identity. Movies take liberties with facts that may help to better depict the truth within a limited medium. There is a perfectly adequate documentary already out there if that’s what anyone wanted.
