Here's my situation --> I've been DJ'ing for my college radio station this semester. Every week I arrange/compose/mix/edit/sample/etc a one hour show with my computer, and thus far I have 16 shows. This summer I'm going to be investing in a massive amount of CD's and special non-jewel cases and distributing them for a picayune 99 cents each (the pitch will be ... you give me a buck ... I give you a penny back, and the cases will have a nifty swell 99 cent sticker on them ---> i got the idea from a Funyun's bag)

Anywaize, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in assisting me with the visually artistic side of the CD's, as I've heard that the Shroomery's artistic cache is far yonder than mere a mediocre. If you're interested, I will gather the titles of all the mixes and we can whip up some vision. Peace!

What kind of thing were you thinking about? I don't have much skill when it comes to creating original pieces, but know my way around image manipulation quite well...

Are you thinking in color or black and white?
Photo (collage), painting, digital image, or typographic design?
Whole CD case (front/back/side)?
Maybe some different people could do some of the covers, thus providing more variety?

I got me Illustrator, InDesign, Freehand, Fotoshop, and all that.

The format revolves around hip-hop. I dip into a lot of trip-hop, lounge, down tempo, instrumental stuff. I sample lots of spoken word to transition between sections. I use a lot of soul, R&B, roots, nu-soul, funk, etc.

I do some beat "chopping" if you will, where I take a break of say, Lee Fields "I'm The Man", and dismantle it into the bones of the beat. Meaning, I separate snares, kicks, cymbals, and misc. Uh's and Get's. I take that and make my own music and mix that with say some ambient Bjork in the background, mix it around and finally come back to the original song.

I use a lot of old Lo-Fi delta folk music. I use Prefuse 73, Boards of Canada, A Silver Mt. Zion, Aphex Twin, or A Grape Dope for background white tones to transition between sections. I could go on for daize.

But definitely no trance. None. Not even psy-Trance.

Go to your setup options and make a new connection. Set the server as ...

astro.ga.us.dal.net

and the port to ... (6668)

You don't have to make a new one, as this is the first listed DALnet server. Once you're connected to mIRC in this server, type ... /chat Buddha502 and that should connect us.
