Barnaby said: I wouldn't call them cute. Who the hell is stupid enough to try to pet one? This one was definitely not afraid of people and what I would say would be like a teen in age for it. Yes, they will attack people but mainly only if is a mother protecting her cub.
Strange experience. Bought a key chain of a black bear at Donnor, yes they have a park there commerating the Donnor Party which is weird in itself but I learned a lot. They have a nice theatre that explains all of it in Cali.
God, it really wanted my food and could of really messed me up. It was dark and, being a black bear it ran off woofing like a giant dog then stood up just 10 yards from me and wouldn't move. I could only make out the outline of this bear. Was surreal in a way. Just kept expecting it to charge me.
So put on one, shoe, then the other, always looking at it from the side of my eye. Glad I didn't set up my tent that night, just slept in my bag. And slowly walked away, thinking if I get mauled I get mauled. Interesting experience but really shook me up.
I had black bear problems a few years back. I was fucked up on benzos one day and chased the momma bear off and her cubs climbed a young cedar tree in the yard. What does my benzoed out ass do? I climb the tree and try to grab the cubs. They were pissed, hissing and biting and scratching toward me. I don't know what the fuck I was thinking. The momma bear could have been on my ass so fucking fast if she decided to do so. She was in the trees chomping her jaws as loud as she could. I eventually came down and started firing bottle rockets at them in an effort to scare the shit out of them so they would never come back. They were back a few hours later...

Re: passiflora... My friend you got WAY too close to those beasts. I would have been crapping my shorts -benzos or not lol. You should google 'black bear attack florida' to see a pic of what happened to one guy (41 stitches to his face). I would upload it but I'm a computer idiot.

And benzos are not mind altering. It wasn't like you were on a psychedelic but probably fucked up on more than that to mess with cubs going up a tree. Unless you are just an asshole antagonizing them. Let them be.

Oh yeah I almost forgot. Stop fuggin' with mother nature passiflor... , or else the next time you fall into a benzo coma she might come after yer ass, and not in the fun way. Your mantra should be : less benzos, less benzos, everyday I will eat less benzos...
I'm not tying to bust your balls my friend, it's just that I can't help worrying about you!

I would not go into the woods with you.
you sound like one of those people that like to walk up and pet strangers animals. these same (not very intelligent) folks seem to have this misconception that all animals love them cause they sense they are a good person. they are shocked and extremely butthurt when they get bit by dogs.

Ah vinsue! It's fun to dump on Jersey (no thanks to MTV 'jersey shore' douchebaggery), but the truth is that if you can survive the taxes and other high cost of living BS, it's a great place to live.
Where I live, it is 2 hours to a decent beach (down the shore), maybe 2-3 hours to the Poconos, 3 hours to the Catskills, and only 45 minutes to 1 hour to NYC. You really have some solid options between country living and big city culture.
I'm super glad you found a 'real' Jersey girl to make you happy, and not some stereotype. Wishing you and your girl only the very best my brother!

The bears were a daily problem. They had been eating all of my cat food and then ate a cat. They had the entire property covered in bear shit, which really fucking stinks. They broke into my shed and tore shit up...They were there day and night, even set up a den under my back deck. At any point I could simply step outside and be put between the mother and cubs. It was not safe. I had to have them trapped and one cub was rehabilitated. It was a very bad huckleberry year and they were starving to death. The mom and cubs were half of their weight they were supposed to be. The mother would have eaten both cubs to try and survive the winter. One cub lived instead. I was out mining when the trapping took place. They do not relocate bears but made an acception for this one poor little cub.
