Amitriptyline and Psilocybin.
    #2558572 - 04/14/04 11:54 AM (13 years, 19 days ago)

I have been taking Prozac for a good six months. However, I am now taking Amitriptyline as the Prozac did not work. I have tolerated Amitriptyline well and it's working very well. When I took Psilocybin with Prozac I had no response no matter how much I took. I believe tricylic AD's increase response to tryptamines. AKA Psilocybin. Is this correct and does anyone have experiences with this?

I do not have any personal experience with this, but the consensus in the literature and among users seems to be that tricyclics and SSRIs seem to lessen the effect of psychedelic drugs (which, like tricyclics and SSRIs, work on the serotonin receptor system). It greatly reduces the visual activity, and essentially weakens the trip. I am not an expert on the subject, and I'm sure someone on the Shroomery can give some better information. Peace

I took amitriptyline all through highschool and I always tripped fine weather it was lsd or mushrooms. I tripped just as hard after I quit taking it. So for me it didnt matter.

I will say this, that shit gave me the craziest dreams. I would often wake up from my dreams and see people, and other objects from my dreams in my room for several seconds up to about 15seconds after I woke up. One of the side effects from the amitryptaline is halucinations. Go figure!!! This would only happen at night though. It went away after I stopped taking it.

I have also taken several ssri's "now Im off everything" and feeling great. None of them have seemed to effect the stregth of my trips.
