Blue or blech?
    #25585717 -

Is this the bluing people refer to or is it decay? The prints are a dark lavender grey/brown & they were found in the PNW after solid rain at a park in the decorative bark & vines. Sorry for the multiple similar pics, the sun was setting & I was worried the light was messing with the color.

Psilocybe Cyanescens yes that’s the blueing that happens.

That’s what I thought too, yay! After spending the last few weeks researching my daily haul (not because I’m a weirdo, I have a hyper dog) & learning about how horrific poisoning is.. I’m almost too scared of lookalikes to eat them. I guess seeing the blue in person does draw a pretty clear distinction though, so maybe I should stop being such a big baby.

Being paranoid about mushrooms and playing it safe is absolutely not you being a big baby, that's you being a sensible, responsible forager. There's nothing brave about risking your life for a high! That said, you've got what you're looking for... next will come the confidence when you're harvesting. With experience you'll get to a point where you'll be 100% sure about some species, at least.

does climate/temperature affect the blue staining?  I swear I see these mushrooms all over the place but they never seem to blue or green/blue or strain really at all.

No, but there are several lookalikes that grow in the same habitat.
