I don't see what the whole problem against fascism is. Yes you have retards like Hitler and Mussolini but you also had the likes of Mosley, Jan Baars and others that saw it is a legitimate form of government if combined correctly with other systems. Mosley wanted to retain parliament and Jan Baars rejected both National Socialism and Antisemitism.

What you're describing sounds more like martial law than fascism.
A benevolent dictator would be preferable to either, and I'll throw my hat in the ring and promise to remain benevolent for a good 7 or 8 hours.

^true!

But where military dictatorship rules, fadcists follow.

The military and a lot of folks that never did get enough death, would love such to be a reality.  Because it's power and power is the freedom to do bad things!

Most people I've met who were serious military operators are mentally ill people.  Usually heavy drinkers and get so blinded by selfish morality, they do bad things and feel great.  They were trained to do wrong with judtification.

I see cops and all do gooders as the same here.  They have such strong feelings they feel all acts are justified.  They built a nation on genocide and slavery.  Why stop there?

I don't see fascism as a legitimate form of government' for any situation outside of wartime or war preparation. It is an ideology almost entirely centered on warfare and preparation for conflict. Which is a big reason why Franco's Spain not entirely seen as "Fascist", and was more of an ideology all it's own.

You are right that the leader brings the value of the ideology, and it's all revolved around them. Fascism under a perfect leader could lead to the most prosperous country of all time. Fascism under the wrong leader can lead to the worst country of all time. If you look at a common example, the Roman Empire saw it's golden years under great emperors, and it's dark years under terrible ones. Which is why authoritarian ideologies do not have longevity. If you get the right leader, then you got it good until he dies. If the next guy is the wrong leader, then you might be in hell for a whole generation.

The idea of modern empires itself would never hold up to public opinion in the modern age, anyway. Not in any first or second world country. The voice of the people is too powerful, and they'll never let you take it away unless there was a horde at the doorstep.

In relation to the main question, I believe that Fascism is a viable emergency provisional government form. For example, I think if France had embraced Fascism in, say, 1938, they would've had the morale and national unity, not to mention manpower and supplies, to hold the Germans back in the lowland countries. But that's hindsight for ya.

Totally agree with you on the having a good leader part. It's essential for fascism and not many people can get it right (even it's founder). However to say it's just for war and conflict is wrong. Mosley campaigned extensively against entering WW2. He saw the horrors of the first and didn't want his countrymen getting shot to pieces again. He advocated for fascism because it is an ideology that if practiced correctly unites the people and strengthens the country. It is an ideology that gets things done, and that's the problem I have with modern democracies. It divides the people and leads to infighting, look at the climate in America now for example.

“The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.” And yea objectively speaking Hitler was a great politician and orator. He helped Germany out of the shitter and turned it into a world power. But the Holocaust was a crime against humanity no doubt.

I don't think Brazil will have a civil war but I do think they'll be in such bad shape in a few years that they'll envy Venezuela.
I don't believe fascism serves any good purpose, especially in a country the size of the US. We've more or less won 2 world wars by appealing to people's sense of decency. I'm not saying that we were wrong or right to get into them in the first place, just that we have (or had) higher standards.
I'm not touching the hitler reference.

It's discussing treason because it's describing a radical takeover, a fascists take over.  No more constitution, no more congress, just fascism...which requires treason no doubt.

Did you think people have the power to vote in a fascist leadership?  They don't.

Hitler fucked his country real hard...he didn't make it a super power.  Anymore than the Soviets made East Germany a super power.  It sucked to live through either.

Something tells me these millennial kids come up with stupid threads and are going to create a shitty America.

To put it as simple and in as little words as possible: Abolishment of elections, silencing of political unrest and potential opposition, martial law ready at a moments notice, militarization of society, hyperindustrialization, transition from civilian to war economy, etc. Authoritarian nationalist state dedicated entirely to maintaining order and protecting the borders.

Not an inherent part, just an added bonus.

Fascism is based on authoritarian ultranationalism so there is by definition an 'other', and most likely a number of others, with only one acceptable in-group and belief system. Out-groups will at best be relegated to lower classes. At worst vilified, expelled or terminated.

You don't know ahead of time how the selection of who's in and who's out will evolve, and you could easily end up on the wrong side.

My point is fascism is a stupid fucking idea. It’s what happens when capitalism loses control of the populace. The tactics used in colonial nations came home to the imperial powers when the institutions of power could no longer pacify the people. It’s a last ditch effort by state and corporate power to maintain the status quo. And despite having all the money and the power, it still fails.

Who says fascism can’t exist with political opposition? Dissent gets crushed sure, but Mussolini didn’t just step on a stage one day and declare himself dictator. Nor did Hitler.

People seem to have this idea that fascism reveals itself immediately as a militarized authoritarian regime that starts off my executing dissenters and undesirables. Read up on how Il Duce came to power in the first place.

At what point does it become fascism?  When there are no elections, or when the elections mostly are rigged shams?

When they are kicking down doors and dragging people away, or just by the time there are more people in jail than anywhere else in the world?

When there are labour concentration camps, or just when half the workforce toils for incredibly low wages and sinks deep into debt?

Totalitarianism is soo twentieth century.  Fascism has evolved.  It has been reborn for these post modern times now with more subtle yet effective devices,  the wealthy and privileged class it's Aryan nation.

Slavery inplies that the work is compulsory when it is voluntary.

I've know former inmates who volunteered to fight wildfires and believe it or not they prefered being out in the forest, risking their lives doing difficult but meaningful work to rotting away in a concrete cage.

One of them told me, "When you been locked in a cell, being out on a fire crew is kinda like going camping".

Does fascism necessarily have to be led by a single dictatorial individual, couldn't it be a cabal that trades leadership back and forth giving the appearance of a choice?

That's my fear of the dominionist movement which Pence is a member of so they seem to be making progress toward their goal.

Prisoners like forest fire work, and they freely choose to do it, so it's all good.  It's not like slavery.

Never mind that the prisoners get paid mere pennies for hard, dangerous, important work, or that they are among the most vulnerable, exploitable group of humans anywhere.  How many of them feel that not going to fight fires would not look good at a parole hearing?  Or may result in inexplicable inconveniences happening to them around the prison in the near future?

Plus, someone who was locked up in a cage for so long that going to a forest fire seems like a vacation is not making much of free choice.  It's a pretty compelled choice, and for the state to then exploit them like that is inhumane.

There are numerous examples of America's justice system being totally corrupt, from crooked police to bribed judges to corrupt lawmakers,  many of America's prisoners shouldn't even be in jail in the first place.
