Advice needed please
    #25583449 -

Okay so I found this plastic tub in my cabinet and flipped the lid and thought hmmm this might work. I have a tiny personal fan at the other end of the table for air circulation bc this is in a closet and theres practically no moving air. No holes. Just what you see at the top theres that opening and theres another opening on the otherside. The temp fluctuates in my closet between 60-70. I plan on misting 3x a day. This is actually my first cake ive ever birthed and began to fruit and was wondering if what you professionals think? Im open to any tips, advice, or improvements you guys may suggest. Im kinda worried about the temp my room normally stays between 70-75 and maybe drops to around 60-65 at night when im not home and have no power running (heater specifically.)

Well firstly from what I can see your cake isn't fully colonized, that isn't too bad but it's going to increase your risk of contams.

When your mycelium is fully colonized, you need to increase FAE and light to stimulate pinning.

Ideal temps for colonization is about 80F, temp fluctuations stimulate pinning, but as i said your cake doesn't look fully colonized.

Edit: Also make sure that the FAE is filtered.

It sat for 4 weeks. Was completely white at week 3 and I let it sit for another week. I dunked and rolled it then threw it in here. I guess we’ll see what happens thanks for the reply

The cake is colonized, its obviously just rolled in verm

FAE doesn't have to be filtered lol, and it shouldn't be.

80F is 5F above the temperature i would turn the AC on.

fruiting temp: 74-78f
incubating/colonizing temp: 80-86f

Thank you! Good to know I didn’t screw up lol. Question, my room temp is 70-74 during day and 60-70 at night will this be okay?

Incubating at those temps dramatically increase your risk of contamination. Once you start getting into the 80's you make perfect conditions for bacteria and risk a bacteria bloom that will reproduce many many times faster than the mycelium and fuck your grow. Keep temps lower to reduce risk of bacteria issues.

I can pull a zip off 4 cakes, 1st flush, so NO they are not a waste for people who just want to trip a couple times a year.

Well those temps may be ideal, for the organism, but NOT ideal for cultivation.

The time difference in growth between low 70's and low 80's isn't that much, but those 80's greatly increase bacteria growth. Most growers are not 100% bacteria free, they just have healthy cultures that can out compete the minuscule amounts of bacteria. BUT when you bring up those temps to the low to mid 80's and higher, you make ideal conditions for the much faster breeding bacteria. The bacteria numbers increase fast and now that culture has much more bacteria to compete against, that it would have under lower temps. So generally speaking those 2-3 days difference in colonization time is a very good trade off for keeping bacteria count down.

Will cubensis still fruit if the temp is 60-70?

Try not to go below 68f, as below that you really start noticing slowed growth. 68-72 is what many of us shoot for.

Day time it’s 68-72 but night time drops to 60-65. Timing doesn’t mean much to me but I do still expect some decent  fruiting from this cake hopefully.

My room stays around 65-68.  I grow in my bedroom so don’t want it hot.  Things seem to take a bit longer but it works well for cubes.
