Micrococcus?
    #25583317 - 11/01/18 03:53 AM (6 years, 2 months ago)

Any idea what the pink colonies could be? Micrococcus or a yeast of sorts?

I don't have any way to test them, just curious what they could be. This was the only plate that was contaminated in this batch, and likely stemmed from the donor plate. Likely hidden contam that I didn't pick up. inoculation done via Josex's poke.

Micrococcus looks reasonable, found on human skin, so that would make sense..

Need to at least take a micrograph. Picture with a microscope. At this point you cant even determine if its yeast or bacteria colonies. Let alone what kind of yeast or bacteria.

It could be pink/red from something in the media or it could be pink/red itself.

Could be Serratia could be Rhodotorula could be a bunch of things

Yeh, I figured, thanks. It's been a while since I've seen any pink colonies.
