lol. I was afraid of getting a response like that... I had to try though. Consider that I was giving a HUGE area though... I did say I'm close to the max and can travel anywhere on it, not to mention I'm in NW Portland, meaning just north of Beaverton.
I was really just asking because I'm soo tired of returning with nothing. But I think I figured out what my problem was and I'll hopefully be more successful now. At least I know where to look now! Thanks for all your help everyone! I think I'm ready to get back out there!
BTW, I'm really not a fan of boy bands or anything of the like. So screw you man.

So, what is the probability that I'll find them in biking distance from my house?? I'm close to the max... and I live in NW Portland. Should I load my bike in the car & go for a drive somewhere or am I just as likely to find them around home??
Given that you are near Portland, the probability that cyans are within biking distance of your house is 100%.

Well, just a general comment or two because you've got some pretty good advice going on.
1) Leratiomyces ceres is a fine name, it is the current name for that mushroom. Notably, it is found 28 times on the Internet. Meaning it makes this thread, currently, confusing as fuck for a person actually trying to find that mushroom. So, as I usually do, I'll include the synonyms.
Stropharia aurantiaca, Hypholoma aurantiaca, Naematoloma aurantiaca.
The first one, Stropharia aurantiaca, is the most popular on the Internet--1,480 times. Nothing like fuckin up the database with new names I always say.
2) I don't understand not being able to find a mushroom, even an active, if you haven't found it before unless it is really rare. I found my first Psilocybe my second time out. I found my first active the first time I looked for them.
Know the habitat, match the conditions, find the mushroom.
It's that simple and that complex.
Thanks for the great questions and

I went on a hunt yesterday and today (still no luck, grrr) and a new question arose. Where are all the damn wood chips??? Around my area, I've looked in parks, playgrounds, trails, parking lots around stores and restaurants, sides of roads, & yards... driven around for hours searching and searching... but NO WOOD CHIPS. I'm thinking, am I retarded? Is there something wrong with me? Why can't I even find any wood chips?? Sooo, can someone tell me - not a specific location - just what kind of areas have wood chips in the first place? Help?? Thanks in advance...

That is weird. Most cities put woodchips in medians and stuff when trees fall and they have to cut them up and chip them.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

I find wood chips everywhere around Portland, but it seems like most of the beds I find are all soft wood. I have been looking for Cyans lately too with zero luck. Found a bunch of Azures on the coast, but no Cyans. I've spent countless hours searching and am just as frustrated as you are.

Congrats, you just resurrected a ten year old thread.
If you would like to talk about actives, please do so in a current thread.
