Bioluminescent mushroom cultivation??
    #2557815 - 04/14/04 01:46 AM (19 years, 11 months ago)

Does anyone know about growing bioluminescent mushrooms. I recently discovered them and want to grow some, but I dont know anything about them and would like any suggestions on cultivating them indoors. I know its been tried and successfully completed, but its not documented anywhere I have found. thanks for any advice!!

Well not exactly a tek but I have grown the Panellus stipticus aka Luminescent Panellus from Spore Works. I used a wood Based MycoBag and after inoculation I incubated it in the dark at room temperature. I moved it to the light when colonized and let it fruit invitro. Not the best way as the fruits were very tiny. They did glow as did the substrate block. very cool

There is more information over on the Spore Works site listed in the gourmet, edible, novelty culture section.

Here is some copied text from the Spore Works site.
"Decently formed fruits are easy to obtain when the substrate material is removed from the bag and placed in a humidity chamber or tent with increased air flow."

I hope that helps. Just remember that this species is NOT edible.

hey thanks, so like I expected they are a woodloving strain. I think I might just do some qt jars with woodchips. then case them. But dont worry I wont eat them. I just want to grow these cause they are really cool.
