Damn, that's a bit harsh of a welcome. OP is just doing it on the side as a hobby, not a proper myco operation. If it's any consolation, I use an unfinished basement that was built in the 1940's (please imagine it). My contamination usually comes from the grain to substrate transfer because I didn't properly PC the substrate. Everything else goes smoothly as long as you are diligent and meticulous.

Warm temps? Sounds like contamination.

Thanks for chiming in! I have seen a lot of similar situations on the forum. Growing in basements or old buildings...I seriously don't have terrible contam issues otherwise I'd be posting in the contam forum. Im trying to share a success story....guess it doesn't count because I don't have pics.
Maybe one in 10 tubs will get contamned and thats usually due to poor genetics or my mono tub isn't dialed in right. But otherwise the conditions in the grow room (again, I have a separate chamber that we made ABOVE the small grow Op) have made for speedy and contamn-free colonization. Once the tubs are colonized, i move them elsewhere because we don't have enough room in that space yet, and because a drop in temperature helps promote pinning. But Ive had more success this year with the grow room than i have in the previous 3 years.

Thanks, man. Sorry. You are totally right that warm temps can lead to contams. I made the mistake of using an incubator a few years ago when i started and that led to all sorts of contams. But these warm temps are mild...just 75 degrees or so. Much warmer than the rest our apartment which is in an old farmhouse. Its also clean because all the air is going through a HEPA filter

it means that what you are saying is incorrect. hes shaking his head disapprovingly. because he disagrees with your assumption. contamination comes from the grower(you) doing stupid shit. not the genes or the chamber. a poorly dialed in chamber still fruits.. just looks like shit.
edit:
eh. sorry for being douche but you are either full of shit or horribly misinformed about how to grow mushrooms. or both
edit part 2:
just realized you are a lady..

I was just kidding dude I know what it means. Yeah maybe I did do something wrong when tubs get contamned, possibly I didn't pasteurize my bulk sub correctly or something. But I think that getting a contamn now and then is just normal...its human error and I'm only human. Im just saying its not due to having my tubs near plants. If thats true they would all get contamned because thats where they have all been for ages. Ive only had one tub get a tiny bit of Trich in the last 5 months and I tossed it right away. Im sure it was because I did something stupid and i learned from that tub. Thats how we learn and get better. But everything else has been just awesome.
and yes....I am a female yoga teacher/rock-climber with long dreads and a killer personality...and I think your GIFs are hilarious.
I will try to post pics of my grow sometime...I think it may change your opinion

Hey B, welcome to the forums, and sorry about the less than warm welcome. Hope you'll be able to pull off your outdoor raised bed, and that you get some good results from it.
Would be delighted to see some pics of your op

I have been thinking of this recently. Can cubes be used as a mycorrhiza? Could spent subs be mixed into your compost piles and used for pot grows. Just wondering about ways to use spent subs.

You’re misled in thinking a filter in the grow room provides a major benefit for your mushrooms. People grow in moldy houses all day long around here with no issue. Same with the lights, mushrooms can grow just fine with natural light and will grow in 60’s-70’s no problem
As far as posting pictures, thousands of others do it here without trouble and no one has been popped over some pictures of mushrooms on a drug forum. Some pictures of your results might reinforce your point that your grow op works successfully
If you search around the forums for threads similar to yours, you’ll find that most of what has been said has been repeated here. I’d grow my weed in one room and the tubs in the other, for the same reasons mushboy has said
