I found this interesting wood loving Psilocybe here in New Zealand in the season just past, it is acutely umbonate unlike P. subaeruginosa and considerably larger, possibly the true P. makarorae but found quite far from it's natural habitat, I'll get to the microscopy at some stage

Very interesting, thanks for sharing!
Any informations available about the fruiting temperature window? Is it a cold weather Psilocybe?

Thanks inski, without you I would not be able to name and differentiate all these different psilocybe species in New Zealand.
Especially now that we have a grasp on the fact that P. tasmaniana, P. angluospora (probably) and P. makarorae are infact three different species. Not just one species that fall under the umbrella of "P. makarorae" I'm looking forward to hearing more about the finer details of this interesting new find of yours.

Beautiful cultures Sporulator, I'll make an image of the clone on agar at some stage, I now know this is Psilocybe subaeruginosa.

Yes, it is P. subaeruginosa, I don't often see it with the pronounced acute umbo but that macroscopic characteristic is noted in the published description.
Here in New Zealand we do have P. allenii and most likely P. cyanescens so there is likely some confusion with many of the collections, all are from Section Cyanescens and share many characteristics in common both microscopic and macroscopic.
It will be interesting to see the fruitbodies from Sporulators cultures, will they exhibit the pointy umbo like my collection, I'm sure the clone will.
