There's a few people on this forum that I know will only take caps nowadays.
But that's only because they can't bear the taste of Kratom anymore, or whatsoever.

I've tried it about 5 times, and unfortunately the gelcaps upset my stomach.

I wonder is the bad taste associated with dusty clogged up throats from botched toss and wash attempts?

Not that I would advocate the taste, but it's pretty mild as far as tastes go, would you say?

Do people abuse caffeine pills there?

Honestly, I find the taste somewhat pleasant.  Mix with hot water, drink as tea. EZ-PZ

I didn't read the entire thread....

...but I actually do drop it right onto my tongue dry, not into the back of my throat but directly onto the center of my tongue....

....This is the way I go about it...




-I dump the kratom right onto the center of my tongue and hold it there (a single teaspoon/2g or less)

-I take a tiny drink of water, enough to get the kratom on my tongue wet, and I hold the water in my mouth for a few seconds, this causes the kratom to clump together into one wad/mass on my tongue and no loose particles...

-Then I take a couple gulps of water and swallow it all down, it all goes down at once. No particles or taste at all. (maybe once out of every 100 doses I'll have some lingering particles in my throat and have to take an extra drink of water, but it pretty much all goes down at once for me and leaves nothing behind).





Once you get the technique down it's super simple, quick, and no taste...


This method is many times easier for me than any other method...and this method has the least amount of taste and least amount of particles left in the mouth/throat, it really does all wash down at once for me.

I've never had an issue with the taste and if I ever took kratom again, I would toss and wash as I always have in the past. Like you said, it's pretty mild. But you may be onto something as far as botched T&W attempts. The mind, the perception of an outcome is a lot more powerful to a person than what it actually is, so you could be very right in that aspect.

As far as the caffeine pills go, they seem to be widely abused by truck drivers here to stay awake during long hauls, but I've never met anyone personally that used caffeine pills recreationally.

The taste does vary considerably, and is sort of an acquired taste like coffee.

I've had some batches that were painful to wash down due to the taste, and others that are almost tasty in a strange way.

Do you find that the worse/more bitter/accentuated the flavor of the kratom, the more potent it is?
I always attributed it to that batch coming from more mature leaves, with a higher concentration of active alkaloids.

Yeah it's kind of nice. I fill up a thermal flask like a large hydroflask + a cup and sip on that shit for an hour. Kind of like having my morning coffee, except in the afternoon. I look forward to it every day and even like the taste now. Drinking it down slowly is like half the fun of kratom for me. I could handle it in a single cup but I like that feeling of getting more and more buzzed as time goes on. And my brain is now wired that I pretty much feel it the second it hits my tongue.

I don't think it's potency so much as alkaloid ratio. IME the more sedating red strains tend to be the bitterest, while some comparably potent stimulating greens/whites have a more balanced almost coffee like earthy taste.

Maturity could be part of it, and curing no doubt plays a role.

The supposedly fermented bentuangie Kratom is some of the darkest bitterest stuff I've tried, and also tends to be extra sedating (though I've only tried it a few times)

I have no reference to white and green strains as I haven't touched them since I was selling the stuff a few years ago.
So just basing it off all the reds I've tried over the years, I do find the more bitter reds to be more sedating. Stronger.

The reason I aasked is because I was wondering if this association of taste and potency was completely psychological, or had any merit to it.

Seems like if you're putting it in toilet paper, then why not just shove up the ass. Wouldn't you get better bio availability, or is the surface space a factor? Maybe the bile and other fluids can be absorbed by a big plug of plant matter just the same.

Drug parachutes made out of doo-doo paper have been around for I'm sure much longer than I've been on this planet.
I wouldn't fuck with it for Kratom, but I've definitely parachuted my fair amount of different substances back in the day. Usually crushed pharmaceuticals when I wanted them to hit me faster and a bit harder.

I remember a time when parachutes were the recommended ROA for maximum biovailability of IR oxycodone. :elmo:

The doo-doo paper (I just like saying doo-doo paper) being used for parachutes doesn't have anything to do with plugging it. In this case it's just being used so that the user doesn't taste the kratom directly on his/her tongue.

But as far as plugging kratom to achieve a stronger feeling from it, I would have to assume since it's not water soluble that you would actually be able to get the highest biovailability from it orally. Just throwin' ASSumptions around, though. Could be dead wrong.

Alkaloids are bitter so it would make sense, but I've had some strong strains that weren't too bitter. Which is why I assume some specific alkaloids contribute the most to the taste. Can't wait to see more in depth kratom testing eventually.

Will be interesting to see how much the alkaloid content varies strain to strain and batch to batch.
