I'm doing my talkytalky thing hardcore below but here's all you need to know:
1 unfamiliar, social bar (not club/shitshow) 1 alcoholic drink 1 hour
NO CELL PHONE, NOVEL, ETC.
You'll be surprised what you learn... I was just doing it cause I wanted to bring out and murder this anxiety I discovered I have but it was a much deeper experience.
I may start not carrying my phone on Shabbat someday

I've been reflecting a lot tonight about relationships, especially social interfacing, and the thread about going to bars alone made me realize the thought of being at a bar alone without a phone gives me general social anxiety which is fucking unheard of and I hate it and I must smash it so I'm about to go to the bar without my phone. I don't know anyone well enough to even know who the regulars are yet, but it's good cause it's a casual pub not a shitshow where I could just slam a double and instantly have a dozen new friends.
Also I haven't had dinner and the bar sells CHEEEEETOS
So, I'm going to outline and recommend this exercise (yes, I'm recommending it literally immediately before going out and trying it for the first time) and see if you guys have "social anxiety conditioning" exercises you have devised. - go to a lower-key pub-style bar without your phone - drink only soft drinks or soft liquor, and fucking nurse it - crank up the buzz sip by sip while you try to enjoy the millieu or find something to talk about or hyperanalyze whom you should talk to, etc. - enjoy the conversation and try to find the moment when you quit being anxious and started just connecting - now optimize for minimum number of sips and shortest elapsed time until social comfort - REPEAT, GROW, PROSPER BRUH 
I'm betting a lot of people here are using a lot of their drugs and alcohol over social anxiety, so this may end up being more important than just avoiding the negative subjective perception of the phenomenon.
Also I doubt I'd come back in 10 minutes but posting this is also just to make sure, also cause god knows if I have my phone on me, I will be posting here.

Sounds like playing the awkward game at a gay bar (hint: the 4th one is a really butch lesbian)
Side note: nobody was there except a couple and a darts league but it was neat watching basketball and continually noticing a hand I hadn't bothered to move come up empty on my pocket only to realize that pulling out my phone is literally an unconscious voluntary reaction to idling.
Glad I did it. Hopefully next time more people are there.
