Attempting agar petris from dried veil remnants

What’s that look like to you guys? It’s day 3, there’s 4 dishes, three look similar to that one, but the fourth got obvious cobweb. I’ll take better picture later.

to this guy, like a blob of basic bacteria you'd have eaten with the dried fruit.

That does not look like mycelium.

I’ve grown from veils plenty of times. No doubt it’s doable

Absolutely, Spores are tough as hell. Some guys here have collected spores from wild mushrooms with excellent results

I believe wild mushrooms anyday, just get a spore print or clone tissue from them, this is not the issue here or under question.... I am also sure it is possible to get spores from a bag of shrooms you bought from someone or have had sitting around for a pro long period of time dried and stored properly. Just that the odds of those circumstances and getting it clean would take some skill. edit: as well as a waste of resources compared to just cloning a fruit, or cleaning a drop from a syringe..

I mean I know there’s going to be contaminants and I’m going to have to isolate if there is any mycelium growing, I’m just waiting on cultures in the mail so I did this mostly for the interest.

I’ve tried one transfer to two dishes to isolate and seem to have gotten pretty good results so far. I’m wondering though, is the growth that’s yellowing bacteria or unhealthy mycelium? I only ask because it looks pretty similar from the top.

None of those look good to me, maybe pic 2 but that still doesn't have the right growth to me. It could just be the pics but they all look like bacteria and other things but I don't see anything that screams mycellium.

2 is no doubt mycelium, possible with bacteria. Do a few transfers at like 11 o’clock to some some petris.

Last time I tried this all the plates looked like mycelium but when I spawned them it all turned to trich in a hurry. Those plates look like very very much like those plates did too.

I by no means see anything that is "definitely mycellium". I wouldn't put to much trust into any of those plates.

None of that growth is cubensis mycelium, looks like trich or something equally gross, IMO
If your goal is to mess around and attempt to revive dried bits of fungi, by all means go for it.
But if your goal is to grow mushrooms you should stop what you are doing, buy a spore syringe, and start over.

In my mind drying it out fully would kill anything living that could still grow aside from mold...

Definitely not. Bacterial endospores will easily survive the drying process, which is why OP's plates are covered in bacteria.

Not true. Bacteria can survive dry conditions as well.
