Pressure Cooker -- best option?

So lately I've just been using a pot & lid to steam my BRF jars. Anyway, I've read a lot that pressure cookers are where it's at.

I do most of my shopping online. My food dehydrator will be coming today. My question is.. what's a good pressure  cooker for a reasonable price that will at least fit 5 jars??

The pc is only going to be used for this purpose so dont feel like spending a shit ton.. but enough to get the job done & fit an adequate amount of jars inside. Any recommendations are highly appreciated!

23 qt Presto is popular choice... not super expensive,  and can do 10 qts at a time... I'm getting myself one for Christmas lol

Fuckin love 23qt prestos.  They're all I've used (besides a shitty 6qt) so it's all I can recommend but they work really well.

So... I have a question to those with some actual experience under the belt... I'm thinking about upgrading to a larger PC, and well the difference in price between a 25qt and 30qt one is negligible.

However, I'm operating rather small-scale, and I'm pretty sure I won't need the 30qt for most tasks, at least for now...

So... The question is. Beyond being just bigger, heavier, and fitting more bags / jars, does a larger PC have further benefits or drawbacks in terms of operation...

Think 16qt would be okay? I really only do 6 jars at a time. The 23qt is fucking huge and spacious lol

How big is the one you're using now? I'm in the same boat. I don't need anything huge. Just enough to sterlize 6 or so jars at a time

Its probably the most inexpensive "pressure canner" around. Thats the key its not just a pressure cooker where capacity it seems is not the priority. Like tormato said, 10qts. And if you ask me the quality of these things are great, well worth it. Just dont allow the thing to undergo rapid cooling or it may warp.

10qt would be efficient enough to fit at least 6 1/2 pint jars?

I've never used one in my entire life. But also looking them up... does look like I could cook some good shit in there as well lmao. But I'm just more concerned about fitting my needs.

Yeah, i guess it would be a bit overkill considering your needs, as 10qt is equal to 20pints (had to google that conversion).

mine is 15qts. holds 7 qt jars or many pastyplates. perfect for producing pounds of shrooms. but i need to upgrade bad:blush:

For the price, can't beat
The presto ... Pressure helps steam penetrate deeper/faster in sterilizing: the additional pressure also allows the temperature rise to near 250°F, which is more efficient than 212°(boiling water at 0psi) ... I'd get the 23qt:  may end up regretting not doing so

Like others have said, the 23q presto will give you the most jars for your money.  10 quart jars or 14 pint jars.

A 16 quart presto will give you the ability to sterilize 7 quarts or 7 pints. 

An average 10 quart pressure cooker will get you 4 quarts or pints.
