Contamination on rye grains?

2 jars inoculated 1 day apart from each started showing signs of metabolites Nd a small amount of brownish slime at the bottom on 1 or 2 grains (one of the two jars colonized the bottom before this happened and is steadily colonizing) could this be a “toss ASAP “ situation? (1st jar GT 2 pics)(2nd jar Cam)and also could the rust ontop of the lid and filter play a part? http://

The grains looks wet, did you prep them by allowing them to steam dry after the simmer? They should be dry to the touch before they go in the jars..Pic 3 looks bad, maybe some cobweb, and I wouldn't use pic 1 or 2 personally, they just don;t look right. The rust wouldn't have hurt, unless it's fully eaten through

Which pic looks like cobweb? And I didn’t make they I got them pre sterile I already consulted with the company and will b getting replacement jars. The last pic where the myc looks thinning is where it first appeared I didn’t turn it around but it’s all connected and EXTREMELY rhizomorphic. About 79% done it didn’t happen in the blink of an eye tht one started off slow asf compared to tht soggy jar in the first pic

On pic 3 around the blackened grains..I only use Rye for my jars and that does not look healthy...Why not make your own? Spend a few bucks on a pressure cooker from a thrift store or brand new? Third party supplied that need to be sterile are notoriously unreliable
Properly hydrated Rye

I'm guessing they've overcooked the grains, hence the dark/black colour, plus also it looks like there might be millet floating around mixed with the rye
Honestly if it were mine I'd toss them, as I don't take risks with contams, its not worth the time to get all the way and then have it fail..but as you can't easily make more I'd try and spawn 5D51E15A-B5D4-4EF4-9F18-75AF1EEFCAA9.jpg to a shoe box with coir at a 1:1/1:2 ratio and see what happens..The wet one, perhaps see how it turns out in another few days...If you want to take this hobby up for more than one grow, invest in a pressure cooker ASAP

Kk thanks for the advice Nd two more questions..can I use bulk casing mix instead of coir? Nd when can I attempt to spawn to shoebox?

What are you thinking of using? Coir is the most straightforward and effective sub to use most of the time, esp for early grows

Great, you should mix it with your grains rather than casing it, cubes don't particularity need casing unless it's PE. You can sprinkle a final thin layer of coir over the mixed layer if you want

Will perlite work just as well? I chose tht because it’s non nutritious at all so less chance of Trich ig? But I’ll keep it in consideration

Pitch the grains, start with new grains and spores, look up bucket tek and look up BODs Oat tek. Wham-Bam no contam. After that, everyone's going to tell you not to Spore2Grain because its spores are inherently a vector for contamination.
There's a reason this guy told you he would pitch the grains, its because he is nice and probably knows what it feels like to move forward with a project that you think will probably fail. It still suck worse than just pitching it in the first place! Those grains don't look clean.

II don’t possess a pc I have other jars but they aren’t colonizing yet I’ll toss the jars because the first pic is starting to show blueish or blue greenish colors on the mycelium strands but the last jar is a throwaway too?

You can probably keep it for a few more days then check it again.
