Because I enjoy dissecting your pithy argument. I also enjoy the fact that you have no real basis for it, and the fact that it clearly stems from motivations within yourself aside of 'we gotta look out for the kids man' - because, if that was truly your cause - you wouldn't be focusing on JUST transgender people and calling them bad parents. Bad parents are fucking everywhere, and I'll tell you one thing for a fact; there's loads more straight bad parents than there are transgender ones.

There's a reason for you going off on this subject like you have, and it's not the one you're convinced it is.

I'm hoping that, one day, you might grow up and see that.

I got raised on the gayer side of the fence, I've known plenty of trans people and about their feelings well before they came out to the world.

The general consensus with the trans people I have met is coming out is safer now, and that's why people do it.

Well that's what the thread is about..read the fucking title. If we wanted to talk about regular bad parents we would be doing it 365 days a year. You seem afraid of this topic..hence why you wanted to close it and even made a poll to do so.

And of course there's more bad straight parents..theres more straight people. Duh

You just continue to make zero sense. Your arguments are honestly all over the place. It's quite sad because you spend your life doing this instead of being in the real world making a change. No matter what you think, a parent who is trans or whatever will be more likely to fuck up a kid than a regular parent.

You want to so bad convince yourself that trans people are exactly like straight people mentally...but it's just not true. Many of them need therapy and who knows what else. I want to live in a NORMAL world..not a genderqueer bathroom-protesting liberal one where people argue ideas that are unimportant compared to real things such as where all tax payers money go and things like that...the more we talk about this crap the more the people in control can keep fucking us over. So go ahead..be your little knight in shining armor for these people...it won't help a damn thing.

Don't you have a kid?

What happens if they grow up and are gay, or trans?

Will you not love them any longer? If that did happen, do you think they should be forbidden from having children?

Totally missed my argument; it hinges on it becoming safer to be trans when it becomes safer to be gay, neither of which are the same thing.

I would go out on a limb and say 9/10 times if you're gay AND transgender then you needed a hobby a while ago.

There is the 1 in 10 tho

They're not concurrent.  It was becoming safer to be gay sooner than it was to be trans.  The amount of people coming out as trans now reflects that relatively new safe environment.

I would argue that the widespread acceptance of gay people has made things harder for trans. Until very recently, gays were the big social wedge issue that could predictably turn out voters. anti gay ballot measures were a political tool to get the conservatives into the booth. Now we’re not controversial enough. So right wing politicians have moved on to trans people. And that’s why we have bathroom bills.

I disagree. People have made gender into a conspicuous target by making social justice into a tribal circle jerk rather than a party-agnostic push to accomplish specific policy or procedural objectives.

Its not a left or right thing.

One thing can be said. There's a higher proportion of genderqueer kids. Does it matter? Nah, i could care less if some parents fuck their kids up. Some people are legitimately trans gay or whatever else, that's fine. And some tranny people are terrible parents. All kinds of people are terrible parents. In the 50-90s smokers influenced their kids to be smokers for instance. I could care less about what's "bad" it's a matter of perspective. Im not here to save the world, some people are going to get fucked up by parents. Whos to say the still won't end up enjoying their life anyway. I really don't know why people are so concerned with other people's kids being queers. Who really gives a fuck. Yea its a social trend it will balance out and go back to just the actual queer people being queer instead of a social fad.

What would you consider to be the "right time" for individuals to be exposed to this information?
personally never had real exposure to and understanding of the concept until the whole Caitlyn Jenner thing
but started trying to kill myself around the age of 12-13; convinced of having somehow been born into the incorrect body and that another shot at life may get it right
now the prospect of reincarnation has me more terrified of losing a 50/50 gamble and being stuck in a male body all over again

would you consider 18 to be an acceptable age to introduce individuals to the reality of transitioning?
and should there be any sort of formal structure in terms of teaching them or are you proposing simply sheltering children from the issue until a given time?

I think parents teaching their kids they should follow a doctrine created by some mysterious ominous being fucks a kid up just as much.

Or telling kids don't do drugs besides alcohol because it's a sin and you'll go strait to hell for it. That's terrible

Throughout the entire country this is true, but I live on the west coast and it's a hell of a lot safer our here for queer folk of all stripes.
