I have been having great problems from contamination that i suspect to be bacillus sp. It keeps cropping up in all of my jars. No matter how long I sterilize in the pressure cooker or how clean my sterile technique is I am still plagued by this contamination that is characterized by brownish watery discharge. I was wondering if anyone knows of antibiotic addatives that will combat this bacteria?
Regardless, you may find it easiest to just try a couple different grains. For some reason, rye never worked for me but WBS did from the very first go. Others have opposite stories. Any grain 'should' work, but between cultivators, their environments, their techniques, etc. a lot of variability can exist.
