Just curious why not wait till you see pins before introducing to FC conditions? I mean, in my experience, before the first little pins its not gonna do anything with or without FAE. But once you see the first pins, FC conditions just make it explode
I mean, i guess not much difference prolly, just the whole waiting for pins. Drives me nuts. I spawn run till i see little caps/advanced primordia just under the substrate surface. Then i introduce fruiting conditions. Hasnt failed me or caused a bad flush yet. Though, i do get smaller mushies on first flush, then GIANTS on second and third, seems to get bigger and bigger. But the smaller the more prolific (prolly just genes)

on the subject of fungus gnats i have found a few things that have helped me with infestations in the past. first i think using a properly pasteurized substrate is helpful, i think ive heard that there are beneficial bacteria in properly pasteurized material that helps control gnat populations, sorry i have no reference for that. also ive tried apple cider vinegar and soap which works well for fruit flys but seemed to have no effect of the gnats. lastly the thing that was most helpful besides total deep room cleaning: https://www.amazon.com/Trapro-20-Pack-Dual-Sided-Whiteflies-Leafminers/dp/B01I9KUKLQ/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1540047103&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=yellow+sticky+traps&psc=1
i hope this is relevant and helps someone

I just hang a few of those hot shot flying pest strips to kill any flies that come into my home from opening doors and what not.
I buy this bed bug kit that has three different pesticides to kill any bug regardless of resistances, and use that instead of the shit home defense crap. I do the entire inside of my house baseboards and all corners of the ceiling, all windows, etc... Do that once or twice a year during the big yearly cleaning project.
I rarely see a bug in my place

I see pins 2-3 days sooner, and first flush harvest up to 5 days sooner, introducing fruiting conditions at spawn rather than restricting FAE for a "colonization period "... mushrooms and mycelium are aerobic organisms that require oxygen for healthy growth

^hm well, that always worked for me. But its my first time deviating from the teks i learned in 2013-2014 and even using a plastic bag. And no pasteurization but bucket tek instead. These newer recommendations do def work well!
The pic im posting is Maz isolate pins day 2 of fruiting, yay. This one i kept sealed till pins. The next tub i make ill try introducing FAE earlier, and see how that works (day 1 pins i posted yesterday, lol)
Not the best lighting or pic, but it gets the point across. From now on, gonna be growing in shopping bags lol So much easier than making a polyfill dubtub and keeping it together. I just have always had a lot of frustration taping it back
One thing is, because of the bag and the very low level of natural light lately, i might use the 6500 K bulb

I think a lot of it comes down to conditions... Seems what works ideally for one person/place/prep differs slightly (dryer climates, variances in interpretation of "feild capacity" etc) from another... which is why experimentation is important

Those work good, but be careful. I almost killed myself with Hot Shot strips.
When I first got my med card and built my MMJ grow room, I just converted a small 8"x5" storage room in the basement. There was also a desk and chair in there. I'd sit in there, smoke up and fuck around on an android tablet while I watched my plants blow in the fan.
I had gnats. Got pest strips. After a week, I was having respiratory problems. Kept getting worse. Sick. After googling around forever, I determined that I was poisoning myself with dichlorvos. Chilling for sometimes hours in a tiny room with 'em while taking bong rips. Threw the pest strips outside in the trash and within days, I was feeling better.

I had the best luck with D.E. (you can probably get it cheaper from a pool/spa supply store than a hydro store) and SNS-203 (or you could make your own with some aromatherapy clove oil, rosemary oil and a little dish soap).

I’ll sleep when I’m dead, for now I’ll our agar and do some transfers!!!
Umm, I’m a noob so don’t listen to me. Personally I flame my loop, cool it near the middle of the receiving plate (I do make a little hole it it). Then I scrape a small amount off my print and do a zigzag starting from where I cooled my loop. My thought it the liquid from the agar cooling my loop envelops the spores and gives them a nice cozy place to do their thing. Once again I’ve knly done this 3-4 times (I susually do 5-8 petri at a time). But I see really thin mycelium running within 2-3 days at 70-75F.
There are other more cautious ways of doing this, but the way I see it I’m going to try and T1 before anything bad germinates. I might even T2 before the first plate could show contamination.

Was lazy and didn't throw out these tubs after flush 3 like I planned on. Still no signs of anything other than cubensis colony in the tubs.
Flush 4

Look how the stumps are still regenerating. And new mushrooms have been growing out from the regenerated stumps. This clone colony doesn't know when is enough.
Please notice the 5:th pinset emerging in this tub
Now I regret I didn't take care of these tubs after flush 3. Imma give em some water and watch what happens.

I keep it going for at least 4-5 flushes. Ive never had anything just turn green, but the yields start getting smaller and smaller and it starts looking all shrivelly
