Anyone know how well cannabis tolerates freezing temperatures? I want to harvest on Halloween, but I'm afraid the freezing weather will turn the buds to mush. Is this a thing that can happen? The plants have been sagging today from all the below freezing weather and I'm thinking I should just chop shop or lose everything.
Heres a main cola on one of the plants.

I don't think you would want to let her freeze. I know people freeze buds that are already cured, but I think freezing wet bud would be really bad. Can you make a tent and get a little space heater in there.

looks like its getting close! usually people will use one of two ways to tell if their plant is ready for harvest, either they will use the pistil method or make use of a jeweler's loupe or microscope and use the trichomes as an indicator. while the pistil method will work, if you don't have a jewelers loupe or microscope, the 2nd option will be more accurate. the general gist of the pistil method is to just watch the pistils or (hairs) and wait for them to turn from white to orange. if doing this wait till around 70-80% have changed, also note this isn't always accurate as some strains will throw out new pistils right when you think your nearly there.
the jewelers loupe/magnify glass/ microscope method is a lot more precise as you will be able to look at the trichomes (mushroom looking growths) on the leafs. while you can find ones that are super expensive, cheap ones work just as well. i think i got this mini microscope for $20 a long time ago and it does the job.
here's a handy little chart thing for reference if you are using this method.
it takes a while to get used to knowing what your actually looking at in the sense of cloudy or clear trichomes but after a few grows you'll know the difference.

I checked the trichomes a little over a week ago iirc, they were mostly clear then.

I'll pluck another bud tomorrow and take another look.

Sorry, that was ment to answer that other persons question. but none the less in your situation youd be surprised how well itll handle some cold weather as long as it isn't below freezing and its warm enough during the day. If you dont think they are ready to harvest and are worried about an early frost id say put a makeshift tent over them but it looks like you already have something over them. Maybe make it a bit more stable like a temporary greenhouse; if you can prevent your plant from being rained on/ buds being wet/moist youll have bit more of a chance of no budrot and youll be able to wait till halloween.

If you want it legal, be sure to learn to grow. Legalization really dropped the quality of pot around here while driving up the price.
I still voted to legalize in Oregon.

Anyone else dealing with below freezing temperatures? I'm thinking tomorrow night will be harvest night because Sunday forecasts snow, and below freezing is expected all week long. There has already been one frost with cold enough temperatures that the surprise snow stuck around for a couple of days but I have the plants covered up so rain can't touch them at all unless it rains sideways or something illegal like that. The surrounding plants have all started to wilt and die for winter, even the crazy hardy bamboo so I'm getting major close encounters-canary bird vibes there.
Really wanted to push for Halloween but

How would legalization make weed quality worst and increase the prices. Where I live they don't even have and medical marijuana. And an ounce of good bud is $400. A quarter is $120. And ounce of Mexican swag is $140. I couldnt imagine those prices if marijuana was legalized. Not to meantion swag would disappear.

Compared to illegal stuff I got on the East coast, the stuff in the stores is fantastic. Growing your own and doing long cures is a step up for sure. Well for other people it is. For me it's a step down because I'm not good at growing and curing yet. I still get pretty good weed and I'm saving a ton of cash by growing.

You go to the proper sub-forum and near the top of the screen, under the banner, there is a button that says post. That is how you make a new thread.

An entire website dedicated to mushrooms and you ask for advice in the cannabis thread.
In all seriousness, I'm not sure what you are asking. You want us to provide feedback on other peoples past projects? Why not just ask whatever questions you have in the threads you linked?

A lot of it is waaay overpriced , then multiple layers of tax (state, county, city) piled on top of it, the tax is basically 30% ....
....but I have been finding what I consider to be good deals from one particular weed store in my area (seems prices can vary drastically from one store to another)....I've been getting 8ths of organic outdoor for $11 to $16, after taxes that's $15 to $20, it's some high quality herb IMO (but at a different store across town, that same 8th from the same farm/grower/brand is $40 before tax, I don't understand how or why prices are so different from store to store...more than double or triple the price.).
But yea...the first time I went to buy "legal weed" from an actual store several months ago I was stunned at how ridiculous the majority of the prices were, BEFORE the tax...
The few times I've gone to an actual weed-store I do manage to find deals....most of what's in those stores are super overpriced though, then the huge chunk of tax on top of it all just makes it ridiculous.

I love the recreational market in Washington. Some absolutely premium weed. World best quality.
Glues getting closer, I know times running out on me

Harvested a branch from the back corner of the greenhouse cause it had a bud rot spot on it.

I harvested my plants today, 2 weeks early at 10(11? idk, freakin' New England) weeks of flower. The constant rain and freezing temperatures have killed nearly everything outside and more snow is forecast for tomorrow followed by week long freezing temperatures. Didn't feel good to cut them down They still have quite a lot of mass on them, though. Next year I will give them a bigger head start instead of wasting half the summer waiting for legalization.
Found some bud rot but I cut it all off very generously before hanging them in front of an oscillating fan in my warm, dark laundry room. I didn't separate any colas so they are looking like apartment friendly christmas tree's...
When do you guys normally trim off the excess fan leaves? I was going to do that around the third day of drying or whenever the stems snapped easily. The leaves on there now even the brown and wilted leaves, do not give easily yet. Maybe it's better do trim now before they dry?
Also what tips do you guys have for curing? Just put into jars and open every other day?
