I work in a dog kennel. Have been doing so for 3 years. Border collies are the best breed. Cane Corso are okay. Schnauzers are annoying. Too vocal

border collies are very smart. playful when its time to be playful, relaxed when it's time to relax, and affectionate but not clingy

yeah some of them arent but statistically speaking a schnauzer is more likely to be vocal. for all of these stereotypes there are exceptions but i've to work with probably 8-10k dogs over the years and my breed judgments are based on that

Chihuahuas are the most vocal obnoxious dog known to man. I hate, with a passion, all chihuahuas.

again there are many exceptions. if you socialize a dog young they are more likely to be chill regardless of breed. i know lots of chill chi's

Airedale Terriers are pretty bad ass. I am on ADT number 3 now and have no complaints. None of them have been vocal and all have been loyal, stoic companions.

This is my second one. I absolutely loved our first one. The one we have now is a great dog but she's kind of an ass. She's real playful and no where near a lap dog like our other one.

She would sit in our lap and soak up all the love if we let here. The one now, not so much. We still love her though.

Being #2 is okay.

Medium-large sized (can't stand small dogs). Short haired. Intelligent. Loyal. Wolf like.

There's many that fit into that category.

My dog is a border collie/aussie shepard mix. He's a good pup. I love dogs but hate the idea of owning many of them. Too big or too small is bad for lots of reasons. 50lbs is about perfect. He can go on the couches and cat seats without ripping stuff up, and if he gets off I don't have to worry like I'd have to with a smaller dog. Lots of coyotes around here. Wolves, bears, ect.  I can afford to buy him good dog food too so that's a bonus, but that's probably more to do with being the leftover disposal. Dog is spoiled. Loves cheese. And bacon. If I didn't have my Bodhi I'd want a real Akita or Shiba Inu. I've been around a fair few of both and they have wonderful personalities. Smart too, real smart. But, can stink.

I like Shiba inu, but they're probably not the best breed for everyone. Very independent and intelligent. They come to you on their terms.

About 12 years ago we had one of these. Beautiful smart dogs. Almost too smart for their own good. Kai was his name.

It's kinda shitty how we lost him.

My wife and I were going to be out of town for a week so we had my parents watch him. They own 5 acres out in the country with pigs, goats and chickens. There's about an acre that's completely fenced in where all the animals can co exsist.

Kai got along with all of them.

While my parents were at work a pack of stray dogs got into the fencing (people dump their dogs in the country all the damn time.)

Our dog tried fighting them off but it was too much.

1 goat, 2 baby pigs, and a chicken along with our dog was killed.

One of the stray dogs was killed too so he def went out with a fight.

I have 3 rescued greyhounds that are just wonderful,  had 2 that passed before that.

Imo the best dogs, if you get them after their done racing they are super lazy and go through a puppy phase learning about the world. The vast majority of the breed live and die with little to none human affection instead being trained to be a racing machine. They really make up for the lack interactions when you get them.

Plus they are a fun combination of grace and goofiness that can be irresistible.

Greyhounds are lovers.  They have more to give than most people can accept.

We had a whippet when I was a child and I loved that dog.

Had one of them too.  She showed up on our doorstep and stole our hearts.  A real lovable tramp.  She protected me from the neighborhood bullies when I was little.  Good girl.
