Injected too many spores... is this still going to work?
    #2554407 - 04/13/04 02:30 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I bought 2 small mycobags, and I injected 2 CC's of Golden Teacher spores into each bag (I forgot to shake the syringe - so possibly not as many spores entered the substrate), and the recommended amount is 1 CC. I was wondering, is this going to affect their growth at all or will they grow as normal?

they will conolize faster with more spores in it. The spores might have settled a little in the syringe if you didnt shake it. I guess you will have to wait and see. Good Luck!

It's more additional water; than spore amount that's going to fuck you over in the long run. That enclosed enviroment isn't helping. keep your RH lower.

Generally, you can't have too many spores. The result there is more competition and better breeding in the mycelial stage. The other possibility is that a settled (un-shaken) syringe may not have injected very much, so you might want to put some more in to be safe, but you'll probably just take a few extra days off the line.

I always recommend growing a liquid culture; it is so much less hectic with an arbitrary amount of innoculant.

RH?  I'm not familar with that term..

I guess I'm just going to wait 4-5 days to see if there is any growth, and if not should I just re-innoculate them?

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice

Damn....I guess people are being conned into this bag bullshit.
Whats up with that?

Man Ralph, you need to quit hating on bags. Although jars may work best for you, not everyone has the means to use jars when they are first starting out. Not everyone can afford a pressure cooker, or use a pressure cooker at their house for that matter. The object of this forum is to get all people to learn the skill of cultivation. Bags are one way to achieve this, and possibly the best way for a newbie, in my opinion.

You know Ralphster what do you have against bags?
Your comment is not professional at all.
You should keep that to yourself as it is totally false, many of the professional cultivators and commercial farms use mostly bags for cultivation and ocasionally jars. Not some pf jar mind you but jars of grain for spawn to other materials, usually in a BAG! Yes it is true.
