What do you mean by the crack in the lid? What exactly is happening there?

Very happy with my first clone/grain shoeboxes. 1qt APE clone in each box.

785g wet total.(average about 250g per shoebox) I'm extremely happy with my venture into agar/grain. Thanks to all,for the help getting here!

I use almost only MEA. For sure, if i leave even an MS dish with bacteria and whatever else growing out for a while, itll still pin very nicely, pretty much everytime, after most of the plate has been colonized. Tho i dont really see an issue with dishes that pin. The only time i care is if its a really nice dish and im trying to transfer it quickly. It takes weeks for the pinning to occur and i dont see why they shouldnt pin. Just means the mycelium is doing what it does best.
For agar, never tried PDYA, Agar-Agar or any other substitutes
Honestly i just care about the dishes working well and being clean. If the mushies like them, good. Its still just a 2d plane, with some shrooms growing
Can easily keep in cold storage too. Why Not MEA?

Totally possible, I was actually wondering this when you posted the other day... though it's also possible that you ended up with a phenotype exhibiting mostly AA+ attributes...

I use soft agar in slants for cold storage... I've not been back into them to grow from, but they still look good after 3-4 months so far... I'll pull from one after the holidays and see if it's viable, but I expect no issues from visual inspection

In reference to the media of choice for agar. I like how clear mea is but i find pda and different versions of it tend to fruit more. Almost all my pda plates usually end up pinning. Not so with mea. In my experience anyways.

AA+ isn't an albino, though.
Nate,
Those tubs are great. That's the exact time I was talking about re: harvest, as well. The caps are much bluer and kind of curling a bit. And I think if you pushed on one lightly, it'd tilt very easy. I miss APE!

"("Albino" A+)" on the syringe... not a "true albino" bc the spores arent clear, but AA+ is whiter than what I've seen called leucistic, and is generally referred to as "Albino"... MUHBAD, but I didn't name it... I'll be sure and clarify in the future...
As a matter of fact, I'll be referring to them as "notsoalbino" from now on!

I've always wanted to study the abnormal looking cubes, seems now they are a lot more abundant on the forum then back in 2014.
Makes the want much worse
