I don’t soak my oats, as Adas said, I just use about the same amount of water, enough to just cover my oats when they are done boiling and hydrated.
I use Bods easy af oat Tek. I find the growth to be very consistent for both grain water and BRF. Haven’t done enough LME to know how consistent but seems about the same so far.
I’m still a total noob but I love working with agar.
I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting pins and then I read somewhere to take the Saran Wrap off. They’re so stinkin’ cute
Edited to add pic that was missing.

1 never opened. Yellow and black mold.
Other 3 have mold from the crack in the fucking lid post inoc. All 3 were poked so i know it has to be the lid or the mold would grow on top of he mycelium.
Back to metal lids.

Plastic lids suck anyways. I'll never change my mind on that one.

i was in the "chronic lid failure" thread scratching my head until BAM it happened to me and all my pasty plates. the worst part is i just made 17 jars with plastic lids.
edit: 3 packs of these. there isnt too much talk in the search feature on em. hope they work!

I have to ask. After looking at more A.P.E. is there any possibility that I was sent some other albino variety?
I'm not complaining. Just wondering if my ms to agar with multiple transfers won me some good genetics or if the sponsored vendor is rolling out something that looks different from those skinny lanky capped ones that show up in the image searches.

Do you really need a cracked lid for pucks? I think they'll do fine fully closed. Quote:

I don't really think that you need to crack your lids with pucks. I colonize RGS pucks in pint ziplocks with closed lids just fine. Your ratios in those jars are about the same.

You dont need cracked lids at all with plastic lids. The problem im facing is “high spore load”. Shit is sneaking under the ball plastic lid modified and unmodified even when they came straight from the PC to my closet and were never opened.
