Thick white myc in a pocket, line of stopped growth brf
    #25542874 - 10/16/18 06:19 PM (5 years, 5 months ago)

So far so good with my first forray into the BRF tek. out of 24 jars, 2 had visible contamination (blue green molds) and 6 never germinated and 4 are slow to colonize with only a few of the innoculating points having germinated. Out of my successful jars this one in particular looks strange to me, there is a very thick dense white growth in a corner and the myc has stopped on a line there. Not sure if it's just a gap in the sub or if it's a wet spot just want to make sure it's not a contam.

Posting this here because it has 35x viewers than contam form

Hi , my advice is trace the non-grown section with an outline marker , give it a few days and watch to see if it grows , sometimes the substrate becomes too dry to grow or contamination or over moisture will block growth , if it doesn't grow anything for say 3 days just birth as you would normally and wash off the uncolonised part and remember to make sure you are careful during the procedure not to contaminate it

I can definitely spot metabolites can't say 100% but it's likely if it's stalled and the substrates moisture content was correct to begin with , I've had jars stall for no good reason though , I have spawned to bulk at this exact multiple times and that's what I would do if I where him

Before you start...Do you have a Pressure Cooker and a Dehydrator? I highly recommend getting both!

Thanks guys! I'll pitch it and keep a watchful eye on my other jars. Being my first run u deffinately handled them too much and my sterile Tek wasn't the best. Have another batch started and was perfect with it so hopefully better odds.

No need to pitch it really , honestly just quarantine the jar or spawn outside if you want I have had multiple jars just like that and it really is 95% mycelium from what I can see , I have gotten multiple flushes from jars just like that , do what you want but just saying it's kinda a waste to just throw it out when there is no clear contamination

Metabolites look kinda like small amounts of urine from experience or an off white colour surrounding mycelium and is more common in older mycelium
