Hey Bod,
Got my first shoeboxes set up today. Did one of each method you mentioned. These look about right?

Hi everyone, I am a brand new mushroom grower and new for the site. Now I am facing a problem with something I don't know or expect to see after casing my tray. The strain is Suphanburi Thailand Goliath if I got the name correct since it's long long name!! I got the spore from Sporework. There are not pinning but something look like white flowers all over the casing layer. Can anyone help me to see what did I do wrong?
Thanks in advance and I'd say I've learned a lot from this site!!

Bod, huge fan of what you’ve done. I’ve been following your stuff and really studying up on things. One thing I’ve been wanting to learn more about is agar, and noticed you don’t have a tek for it, if you do I’ve over looked it. Was curious if you had one, or could recommend one to me. Thanks in advance!

What’s your experience with Ps. & Pan. Cyanescens? Have a jar of PSC spawn almost fully colonized. Was thinking about using CV with hardwood chips as the casing. Any suggestions?
Also, in the same jar I found what I’m hoping is a dark grain with myc on in but wanted to see if you think it’s black mold.
Here’s the rest of the jar. Just did a G2A transfer with it and it had a sweet smell to it.

Just started my first batch of coir sub. May be because I didn’t preheat, but when I checked the temp after 90 min with my laser thermometer iwas only reading 125F. Can I still use it or do I need to start over?

Hey bod, I prepared horse oats following your TEKs, and I inoculated one jar with a spore syringe. I allowed the jar to cool after pressure cooking, and I shook the syringe, but after a week I see no myc. This is the second attempt I've made. Any idea what could be happening? Could the grain be too dry?

Hope I didn’t mess up my shoeboxes. Had another jar of the same species finish colonizing overnight. Wasn’t expecting it to. Mixed 1/3 of the grain spawn with the substrate of each box thinking it would help them colonize faster since I didn’t do a bottom layer of substrate. Bad idea?
Had some leftover CV from last night so I mixed it with the last 1/3 of grain. Put some holes in a sandwich size ziplock bag and covered it to fruit. Will that provide enough FAE?
Here’s a pic:
Also hoping this PCY colonizes the CV. Need to prep some hard wood just in case.
Your Tek is right on.
Thanks,
BB

Hey Bod, First time cultivating actives. I used your unbodified tub tek to great success so far. 32qt tub, 1.5qt grain spawn MS. Being new to monotubs though I'm not exactly sure what "proper surface conditions" look like and got a lot of side pins on my second flush(none on my first). For the second flush I just misted a the featured tub in my pictures. In my other tub I soaked and also got some side pins. Visible gap between sides and sub. Any tips?
Thank you.

Can you use CV the same day you make it or is it necessary to leave it overnight to give it time to soak up water?

hey bod! Would you transfer this or let it grow out more? It looks organized like a single strain but the growth on top does not look rhizo at all. This was from a sporeprint, started on oat water agar and then after 3-4 transfers is now on MEA. I've searched a lot and know that tomentose vs rhizo is kind of a moot point, but I'd like to get a pin on the plate. How do you encourage pinning on the plate? Thanks in advance dude, your teks are the best and have gotten me and so many others up off our asses and into mycology

Hey Bod,
Is this a good plate to grow or is the myc too fluffy?

Awesome. Appreciate it Bod!
Threw away the moldy shoebox as recommended but have a couple more coming around.
I started this one to fruit immediately but thought I used too much substrate on top of my oats so put it to colonize instead.
On this one I broke down my GS and mixed with the CV.
No mold is always a good sign. Any changes you would recommend?
Thanks,
BB
Also wanted to see if you’d be interested in a Caerulescens print.
