I was watching a lot of 200 old magic the gathering cards that ended about 11 minutes ago. The seller said she picked them up at a local thrift store and didn't know anything about them. The bid was up at $1,425 near the end and I was waiting for the last 20 seconds or so to put in a high bid of $2,250.
I had logged in through face book and had only provided my email. My first time using ebay.
Watched intently as the bid rose to $1,550, then $1,700 with 30 seconds remaining.
So, I go to place my bid at 20s remaining.
Click "place bid".
The site fucking directs me to a page where I have to enter in my shipping information and a phone number.
You fucking guessed it, I missed my opportunity to bid because I had to fill out my fucking address and confirm my email.
The picture showed three dual lands from revised worth around $750 and who knows what else is in the lot of 200 cards, she only had about 3 dozen spread out, which showed a badlands, plateau and a tropical island, as well as a fork. It ended up selling for $1,851.
I was really hoping to search through those cards and pull out some power 9, but NOOOO.

Maybe they should ask for that information when I created my account not 5 minutes before the auction ended.
Why even give an option to place a bid if you're not a member with an account?
I'm calming down a bit now. I was furious inside. Definitely feeling like I missed out on a lottery chance at some high value cards.
I told myself, if I won the auction I would sell my entire collection along with whatever I won in auction.
Guess I'm going to be hanging onto my cards for a while longer.

You know that the bid you place is your maximum bid right? So you don't need to wait until last second. EBay will bit on your behalf up until the maximum. There are still potential benefits to waiting, but putting it in ahead of time lessons the risk of something like this happening

Yes, which is why I was going to put in a bid that was some $800 higher than the current bid.
Thing about it, no one had bid for a few days, up until the last 45 seconds or so. I didn't want to put in a bid and raise a red flag with the other bidders and wanted to wait until the final seconds to swoop in and snatch them up.

Well, now that I've gone through the process and ebay knows my address, I can be more confident in bidding in those final seconds.
I'll have to keep an eye out for more listings.
Still pretty pissed, if there was a mox of any kind in the lot of 200, I would have easily made money on the purchase.

It was a lottery I admit, but there were a few cards pictured that could guarantee I could make some of it back. Then, if I were to have searched them and found more expensive cards, I could have made profit on those cards.
Also, it's getting to be winter here in Colorado. We just got 6 inches of snow, so going outside is a limited option being so cold.
