Anyone Recognize This Species?

Does this look familiar to anyone? I want to see if anyone can recognize it before I tell the story behind it. This may be the begining of a fruit or just mycelial growth.

That's what I thought it looked like. I'll have to give it a couple of days before I divulge the info.
Thanks for responding.

Yes, what is your idea?
Don't give me an idea based on the cultures you so kindly sent me, but on your observation and recognition of the pic.

At first I thought that it's reishi. But that hairy ball and vermiculite are quite unusual.

Only one person has submitted a guess. I think I'll wait longer. Perhaps some new pics will be posted as well.

One set of pictures, thats it? I was expecting for updates on this, to see the progress. I have to say the fuzz (moss?) threw me off. I would have guessed some species of puffball, but that fuzz looked like a rodent.
