Waddduuuuuppppp!

Wadd up fellow shroomers!I am so new to this world but I come from a world not so far away it's green and legal in some places. I have since in my mind graduated from that lifestyle. Well got to a point where it is autonmous. Now I'm ready for a new hobby. I have used psilocybin recreationally and prolly abused it when I was young like most. But anyways now im interested even more because of Paul Stamets. I'm sure everything im saying is nothing new so I'll leave it at that.

I have not read it. I stick to these forums and they have never let me down. Teks update frequently as more cultivators experiment with various variables. Not all teks work for everyone due to differences in budget, grow space, altitude, temperature, and humidity. This hobby is about finding whats best for you.

Yeah I understand that completely. Budget dictates anything for sure. I guess there's a million ways to skin a deer. Is the biggest part of it keeping a sterile area. I know that's not the only but for the most part is that the make or break part?

Haha. Hey morrow, those same people prolly think the earth if flat. Here you have a guy who spent his whole life for the better part scientifically examining this field, Passes all the test, and meets all credentials but gets ridiculed by some asshole who isn't happy with his life on YouTube.

I also don't remember who mentioned it first...

But it was along the lines of false advertising.

If I recall correctly, it was basically that he is mostly talk, and when it comes to most of his actual products, they are over priced and sub-par in quality.

Also I heard he's made a few outlandish claims, with seemingly no evidence.

Anyways...

Welcome to the shroomery!

Sterile technique is very important, but there are lots of critical areas that can ruin a grow.

For me it was always the humidity... battling to give them enough fresh air, without drying them out.

Well that's very interesting considering he kinda is fighting the good fight for all of us directly or indirectly. I mean it's one thing to say the products he sells are misleading, but to dismiss his scientific findings is absurd. Whoever that is I would like to hear what they have to say. Sounds like trolls to me. Sorry

As far as I'm concerned he is the reason John's Hopkins University is doing research on the medicinal uses of psilocybin but whatevs.

why? are you a scientist? believe it or not there are several members of this board who are legitimate professional mycologists. as I stated, they regard stamets as a charlatan who basically exaggerates the hell out of whatever findings he does have in order to personally profit monetarily and in terms of reputation. it's hard to know if a given scientific claim is bogus unless you have a deep understanding of the field it pertains to. I am just relating what I've heard, I'm humble enough to know that I don't know enough about the field to make a judgment call

I know enough about the science community too make a pretty good judgement call. Considering if your a charlatan you don't get grants for your research, You don't get DEA liscense, you don't have three or four books out that are praised by all other mycologist since the 80's. You don't get too name pretty much any new species of psilocybin. Are they saying his research on fungi combating  diseases is bogus? Are they saying his research on mycelium helping the bees is bogus? Again it's amusing to me somebody on shroomery would argue against him. I think those people have some motive or stuck in their own dogmatic ways. Do you think science doesn't get political lol?

I've got no dog in this fight. Just keep talking about stamets and eventually his opposition will come out of the woodwork and you'll be able to ask them for yourself what the deal is

Every single company in the health field whether natural or otherwise does this. Minimize overhead while maximizing profit while painting the best possible image of the product and it's owner's as possible. That's just business and he is smart about it. If he uses profits to live the life he lives, host seminars, workshops etc, then in my book he's a good teacher.

So you don't think it's hillarious and odd that a mycologist from the Shroomery forums would argue with their predecessor? I would red flag that. As far neurogenesis goes even he says that it's speculation. He wants it to be studied. Everything else is backed with strong evidence. Again sounds like somebody just trying to get attention. I mean the FDA wants to reclassify psilocybin. Why would you argue this guy. He is a serious scientist. He has real credentials. He has won awards on this stuff lol.

In fact from listening to them, I've learned more about mycology than reading 2 of stamets books, or anything else stamets has ever said.

But look, if you wanna idolize the guy, that's up to you.

No I'm at work right now give me sometime to read it. Man I don't idolize him it's just he is the only guy we got to argue our side of things to Uncle Sam. I just find it counter productive. Give me some time to read those threads.

I got shitake plug spawn from him years ago and had it shipped to kentucky. They fruited just fine. I'm not saying he doesn't make mistakes or his employees don't. They should have replaced the culture at least once.

He's not the only one, just the most well known. But regardless, I'm not saying we should actively stop him, that'd be silly.

But I, for one, am never going to buy anything he sells, for fear of being ripped off.

Well man I admit. It's very interesting. I don't know enough about his company or how the mushroom business world works. But seems like nobody is debating his mycology work. And neither is the FDA or the DEA so I don't know man. One thing you have to understand about business tho is business. This is a capitalistic country, one must capitalize. Did you know its a law that business's must make as much money as they possibly can? I also don't know how his company operates as far as how many layers. I mean does Paul just own the company but don't do much with the marketing side. I don't know. I think he has good intentions though as far as science goes.

Fungi Perfecti has been around since I was a little kid. I remember reading the old catalog and the logo at my grandma's house. He brought kombucha to the world, or at least popularized it. He tried to have it patented but since it's a contamination of yeasts and bacteria, it was never actually approved by the fda... Are they the best mushroom kit suppliers or culture suppliers? Probably not but who is? He has helped take away the phobia surrounding mushrooms, and in particular the genus psilocybe.

His theory of the bees, bears, conk, and forest is pretty sound to me, although based solely on observation. In this case that is probably the best we'll get. A lot goes on unnoticed by us with the mushroom kingdom. Every new food source gives information to the organism to survive new conditions.

Haha challenging people should be encouraged. We would still be slaves to some asshole dictator( who talks to god)  if views held were not challenged. As long as it is with pure intentions. But yes that's exactly what I'm saying. Especially in a capitalistic world and especially if you want to make it longer than ten years.
