My father, a pretty middle class guy lost a lot in the last recession. The rich have figured out how to tie the middle class up in their shit. 401k's...

Not refuting your point, just saying the middle class perhaps should get smarter financially. My father spent no time educating me as far as the stock market, investments, etc. As middle class people why would he? Then 35% of his retirement disappeared.

All I'm saying is that there is a total education aspect that isn't being talked about.

You're correct, the elite have tied asset prices into every facet of the peasants economic life, even though they own very little of those assets.

They have tied the stock and bond markets into individual retirement accounts and institutional pension funds.  They also tied asset prices with government tax receipts to a VERY large degree.  IF asset prices trade lower the tax revenue will dry up and the social benefits will be slashed in short order.

The Federal Reserve already stated if the stock market trades lower, they will step in with printed money and become a buyer of the stock market. They will also be a buyer of corporate bonds.  All of this will be happening as they make massive cuts to SS and medicare, and the peasants are defaulting of their credit card, mortgage, auto and student debt.

Xul and sunnyD have the same philosophy. from a financial planning aspect there isn’t anything much more stupid than buying real estate with cash.

You gonna buy a farm with 10k? Land around here goes for about $1,000,000 per acre. I can imagine you could find anywhere with fertile soil that would cost $10k for an acre.

Koods' comments aside, which I actually found hilarious (in a good way), I also laughed my ass off at the 5k or 10k comment. It just seemed out of place, maybe slightly out of context, and pathetically low... XUL is fucking busting at the seams with cash, why low ball?

Either way, I'm really looking forward to XUL funding The Shroomery Credit Union. Perhaps we should purchase the domain name now? TSXUL.org has a nice ring to it.  I love my credit union as is, but I'd gladly be a founding member here. I've got at least $5 to put down. All founding members will receive dividends like proper commies (since the term gets tossed about so carelessly around here I figured I'd join in). How many ruble can we round up, I'm sure Fal has at least ₽238 he can offer up. God damn Loch Ness Monster.

You have to pick the right location.

If you know where to look, it's 500 - 1000 dollars per acre.

This is in Appalachia. KY, WV, VA, NY, VT,  ME.... Also outside of Appalachia, WI, MI, and MN
