Living in a 2br LOFT with roommate... how is it? * 1

This friend of mine I'm probably getting a  apartment with this week is really into the idea of getting a loft.

They're cheapish and available large in some good places.

I did notice the walls only go like 8 or 9 feet up so this has me thinking its really noisy.

Seems like sex noises would be pretty unavoidable.

Also, he's my coworker from a restaurant I just quit cause I'm going full time as a dev, so this means I work like 7-3 plus class whereas most days he works 5-11.

It makes me wonder if we won't end up on opposite sleep schedules most of the time with us doing our gaming while the other sleeps most of the time.

How do these short walls affect things in practice?

Anything else good or bad I should know?

We will get like 1200-1500 sq ft for about 25% less than ~800 sq ft for a normal style one, but this would be downtown near my work and Power and Light versus the smaller one closer to Westport and UMKC.

I need to figure out what to do ASAP as I'm trying to move this week so any input helps. :smile:

PS the loft has some carpet which I am big on.

It's a 2 bedroom loft, I think 2 bath too.

We are going to hang out quite a bit too. The only reason I'm getting a roommate is to get to spend more time with a friend.

noise all comes down to your roommate, are they going to be considerate of your schedule?

restaurant people generally like to drink and drug post work to release stress and blow the cash they make so be careful if you have to be up by 7am. also they are likely to sleep til past 10 unless they have morning shifts. can be a total non issue but it might quickly digress into i do what i want and sorry it affects you type situation.

Ah smells nostalgic already. I was definitely a little bitch then, but it was about signing over a check under false pretenses. Doesn't matter now... gonna see how long I'm without a vehicle and then probably buy either a truck or a CTS V after.
