Need help identifying this cactus
    #25499973 -

SWIM has stumbled across this cactus growing in a friends yard and has been granted permission to harvest some. SWIM has picked up an interest in mescaline cactus and has been on the lookout recently, however doesn't exactly have a trained eye for these kinds of things. From what they can make out, it appears to tick all of the boxes for being a san pedro cactus, however they thought it may be of use to run it by a forum containing people who may have more experience than them. (note that the flowers present in the image are of a different plant and are not part of the cactus)

This thread was moved from Getting Started.

Reason:
Don't use swim. And if they're your neighbor/friends why are the pictures from the sidewalk. And what neighbor doesn't know what kind of cactus he has....
If you're poaching cactus that's a super dick move.

This is a Cereus, most likely Cereus peruvianus also known as "Peruvian apple".
Not active, but has beautiful flowers, tasty fruits and makes a good grafting stock.

well sorry for using swim. i'm completely new here so don't really know what i'm doing. why should i not use it? also my friend has bought a property neighbouring their current house to rent it out and does not live in said property. the cactus grows leaning over the fence and is easily visible from the sidewalk so there was no need to actually enter the yard to take a picture. also i'm not sure what your getting at with the what neighbour doesn't know what kind of cactus they have statement. most people cant go around naming every single plant that happens to be on their property.

Using swim doesn't protect you from legal action. It also just sounds silly.

The cactus is called, Cereus peruvianus. It contains no mescaline or drugs.

It grows good fruit that you can eat.
