But yeah, no, i like XUL's theory that the psychiatrist has mental issues and brought a smear campaign and death threats upon herself for no reason.

She had no clue she was going to potentially receive death threats for going public, so there's nothing heroic about her acts.

Are you joking? Any time somebody makes a claim that might hurt a GOP candidate or nominee, they are guaranteed to get death threats. It's basically a law of nature.

Everybody knows that.

Looks like the FBI will be getting involved. They don’t have the votes to confirm.

We know from federal statistics (from the FBI I believe) that only roughly one out of three sexual assault victims ever comes forward. Theres a reason Ford didnt tell anyone for years, only mentioning it to her therapist in 2012, and a few friends later on. Theres a reason Ford didnt come out publicly immediately, and deferred to her congress person, and later Feinstein. She, and everyone else, absolutely knew she would be the victim of a smear campaign, as well as death threats.

She could have come forward two minutes after it allegedly happened, why didn't she?  She could of told her friends, her parents, the police what happened shortly after if occured. That would have given her credibility, why didn't she do it?

What have young women been told since they were children, 'if anyone touches you inappropriately, REPORT IT immediately!!'.

Yeah, Republicans keep spouting that shit.

"Blah, blah, blah, Feinstein should've told us sooner, blah blah blah"

Nobody cares, man.

It really seems like the Republicans are more worried about when the allegations came to light than they are about giving a sexual predator a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court.

Really fucking bizarre.

I don't know why Republicans think the timeline on these accusations is relevant, but it definitely is not.

The one and only thing that matters is that the allegations came to light BEFORE he was confirmed, and now they need to be looked into more seriously.

The man has already lied before a Senate committee...

She had as much evidence in 1982 as she does now. And there are dozens of reasons why sexual assault victims don't come forward immediately, if at all.

I can remember a time when Republicans were so concerned about sexual predators that they wanted to ban all immigrants from Mexico and prevent transgender people from using the bathroom they feel more comfortable using.

But now that they are trying to get a alleged sex predator onto the Supreme Court they suddenly have no problem with it at all.

Fascinating...

go to a rape survivors group meeting and ask.

or, you know, just google it?

just the tip of the lack of reporting sexual assault iceberg
Quote:
Sexual assault takes an enormous physical and emotional toll on a survivor, who may still be processing what happened, and may not be totally ready to handle retelling their story. In a study by the National Institute of Justice, 42 percent of “physically forced” victims who did not report their assault to the police said they did not make a report because they “did not want anyone to know.” Despite the fact that assault is never the survivor’s fault, someone who has experienced sexual assault may still feel concerned that they will be blamed for their attack.

As Scott Berkowitz, founder and president of the Rape Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) explains, survivors may feel embarrassed that the assault happened in the first place. Not every law enforcement officer may be understanding or empathetic of a survivor’s position; reporting can feel invasive and extremely difficult.

No, she may have had physical evidence and other people that could have accounted for the validity of her story.  She doesn't have that today.

Your attitude discourages real victims from coming forward, that's problematic.

Not to mention that Ford told her counselor about the incident in 2012 and (as I understand it based on what I saw yesterday) has written record of that.

Oh yeah, and she told her husband and various other friends as well.

Of course, this is the type of stuff that the Republicans don't want to come out—which it would, during a proper investigation.

I can't even keep up with all this shit

https://nypost.com/2018/09/26/mark-judges-ex-ill-speak-to-fbi-or-senate-about-kavanaugh-accusations/

Quote:
An ex-girlfriend of Mark Judge — the former high school classmate of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who has been accused of watching Kavanaugh sexually assault a teen girl in the 1980s — said Wednesday that she’s willing to talk to the FBI and Senate Judiciary Committee about what she knows, according to a new report.

A lawyer for Elizabeth Rasor, who dated Judge for three years in college, sent a letter to the committee saying her client would “welcome the opportunity” to speak about claims she’d previously made to the New Yorker, according to the Washington Post.

Rasor has said Judge once told her about an occasion when he and other boys took turns having sex with a drunken woman when he was in high school.

Rasor said Judge considered the encounter consensual. She said she is just speaking out now to contradict Judge’s recent claims that “‘no horseplay’ took place at Georgetown Prep with women.” Both Judge and Kavanaugh attended the prep school.

Another Kavanaugh accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, has said high-school buddies Kavanaugh and Judge locked her in a room at a party when she was 15, where Kavanaugh tried to force himself on her while Judge laughed — allegations both men have denied.

Rasor’s offer to speak with officials comes the same day that another woman, Julie Swetnick, made explosive claims that she attended parties with Kavanaugh and Judge in the early ’80s where women were “gang raped” by a “train” of boys, and that she had seen both of them “waiting for their ‘turn’ with a girl.”

Kavanaugh and Judge have also rejected these new accusations.

The next Republican talking point is going to be that it is Ford's fault for not letting Kavanaugh finish the rape so that DNA evidence could be collected.

If a physical struggle occurs, many times there's visible marks on the body. That's what I was referring to in this case.

People that don't believe in her story want some evidence, all we have is allegations.
