What do you do when you eat an 8th of shrooms?

I was on ssri's for many years and now having quit them for a little over a year I feel my serotonin levels are definitely off. Last spring I had my second trip ever, my first one was in many many years ago back in high school. Anyways I ate 1/8 last spring and had a good and bad trip but overall I felt so much different, not to sound like a meme but I almost instantly started being interested with history and ideas instead of people and events. This lasted for a few weeks and then I tried to do another 8th and had a pretty bad trip, both times I sat in silence and also smoke some weed which seem to make it worse as that makes me paranoid even when I don't eat shrooms. I have definitely lost that feeling of wanting to research history and ideas and have fallen back into everyday Society grind. Since then I have been listening to music and trying to keep myself calm throughout the trip, but I feel like I am trying to focus on something so much to avoid having a bad trip that I'm not letting the shrooms just take me like I should.

How do you guys go about it? Do you just listen to music, play a video game or watch a movie? I've heard some people write things down that they want to accomplish from the trip and then continuously read them during it? I live alone so my set and setting is pretty comfortable in familiar.

What are your thoughts?

I usually listen to music on the come up, then watch cartoons or dovumebtaries like Planet Earth...the original Fantasia is one of my favorite cartoons to watch on mushrooms..

The best way to experience mushrooms imho is the silent darkness approach. As little outside stimulus as possible. Doesn't matter if your eyes are open or closed at that point. The trip just takes you. Prepare with a clean setting and all the essentials. Flashlight, water, snacks, phone in do not disturb mode etc.... have some source of music and light readily available. It can be pretty freaky on the come up and you may want a quick out but I assure you if you stick it out it is very worth it! God bless and safe experiences!

My favorite chilling dose is ~5g personally, but I just dim the lights, put on records, and close my eyes and drift off into my dream world. Occasionally I'll open them too when I wanna switch things up :wink:

My first time I did mushrooms I did something wild and a bit reckless because I was too excited to wait until I got home to take them.

The times after that were generally spent alone or with close friends. Usually in nature and/or listening to music.

I like to be in the woods during day trips(usually w/a couple friends), night trips are done alone.. And sometimes I just lay in bed in the dark and think

It depends on the setting and the dose...but at home/indoors this is how I go about it


Total darkness or dim lighting/candles.

Chill music with no lyrics/vocals.

Laying around with eyes closed



Around 2 or 3 hours after dosing my trip changes gears and instead of laying around/thinking about things I end up feeling compelled to move around...So I usually end up dancing for an hour or so, dancing is like a meditation of sorts for me and it actually gets me even "higher" and farther out.


During the comedown I'll usually put something like "Planet Earth" on the TV (anything with nature/eye candy) but with the volume all the way down and music playing through my sound system instead. But through the come up and through out the trip I am not trying to spend my time gazing and staring into a bright TV screen...I don't know how folks watch movies on mushrooms, I absolutely can not follow the plot of what's going on in a movie and mushrooms in general pretty much make me want to close my eyes and go inward. I have zero interest in such things when on mushrooms.

I like to be in a room with the lights outside of the room on so the room is everso slightly and indirectly lit. Doors typically glow a lot because of the light surrounding them which makes everything else in the room glow slightly too. Total darkness is gauranteed to be deep but typically a dark room with indirect light makes for equal depth with at least some external stimuli coloring the experience.
