1st Grow help!
    #25490271 - 09/26/18 01:02 PM (2 years, 7 months ago)

Hi,

I've  got 6 half pint cakes that I've colonised with b+. I waited a week after they looked fully colonised for consolidation and then dunked them for 24 hrs.

I wanted to grow in vitro for stealth reasons. For three of them I used plant pots and the other 3 glass jars. The plant pots seem to be doing better than the jars for some reason, maybe too much condensation.. any thoughts.

All being said these pics are 5 days after being dunked. Is this slow?

I didn't want to put them in a fruiting chamber because it's going to be difficult to hide. But I want to do anything I can to save these as I feel these aren't doing well.

But it's my first grow and I can't tell as I have no experiance.

Any help would be much appreciated

No.  Not slow.

If you see no pins a week from now, that's slow.

Looks like you forgot to roll them in dry verm.  Also, if keeping them hidden (out of sight, out of mind), I'd try doing the shoebox FC.  Its small enough to keep hidden in a closet or somewhere.  Just need one shoebox with an inch or 2 perlite base and then keep a plastic bag over the top so the mushies can grow.

Read this thread and see if it would help. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24038695/fpart/1/vc/1

Thanks, I think the shoebox idea is good.

I've seen people 50/50 on rolling in dry verm so I decided not to. If I get to do a second flush, would I be able to do this then?

Also, what is the main benefit of rolling in dry verm? To increase surface area?

Thank you for your responses.

Dry verm layer helps maintain microclimate... seems you need to engage a bit more research my friend... we're here to help... Might as well just buy them if you're not going to take the time to learn and understand the craft... :2cents:
