4.6 mile run in 35 minutes and 25 seconds today. Took 45 seconds off my last time, which was 3 minutes faster than the time before that. Average mile time 7:46. Get at me brothers. Where's the cardio at, you guys are all bi's and tri's, purely glamour muscles.

3 mile walk to be followed by a legs, shoulder, back routine at the gym today once my girl gets back!
I'm actually 192 at 6' 3" after checking yesterday. I think my weight would be perfect at 200 so I'm going to be relaxing on the cardio & eating more good bulk.

I' 6'2" 170 pounds. I try to also do 90 - 120 push ups a day in 30 - 35 push up sets throughout the day, so I'm not just some skinny fucker either. The cardio is where it is at.

cardio isn't really that great for you especially when done chronically it causes increased cortisol which can lower testosterone and fuck up your endocrine system

any kind of physical stress releases cortisol. But I don't know, there have been some insane runners in human history. The incas, the kaihogyo monks, various nomadic tribes, etc. I think that extreme cardio is better for you than worse for you.

cardio is much better for, well, your cardiovascular health than resistance training. the cortisol response to intense cardio is a natural evolutionary response that mobilizes blood sugar by inhibiting insulin from moving it into the cells. becoming skinnyfat as a result of being a marathon runner is definitely a thing, but everyone who isn't an elite level powerlifter/bodybuilder can benefit from a 20 minute 160-180bpm cardio daily sesh. and frankly those guys would benefit from it too, just not in the way they want to benefit.
the primary inducer of hypercortisolism is just plain stress... bills, relationships, work, etc. increases in glutamate > GABA conversion associated with reasonable amounts of cardio will outweigh any subjective problems caused by exercise induced cortisol increases

I think, and could be wrong, that body builders have more health problems than ultra marathon runners.

at comparable levels of training they absolutely do. takes a toll on your joints. you also have to keep in mind though that a lot of those dudes are taking anabolic steroids which are terrible for you in terms of heart health and susceptibility to cancer
i lift high reps at weight pretty well below what i am capable of lifting. in terms of muscle growth the only thing that matters is total volume, you dont have to lift heavy. but lifting heavy will make you stronger despite equal amounts of muscle growth

yea i was talking mainly about chronic exercise, and prolonged High-Intensity-Training. like morrow said 20 minutes is healthy. strength trainers typically have at least a 1-minute break between exercises which would total only about 10 minutes exercise for that period of time

yea most people have the misconception that you gotta train like arnold swartzeneiger to see progress but truth is he was an addict. normal people do not have to train like that to see results.
20-40 minutes, 3 times a week and you will see amazing results in 6 months, as long as you increase weight incrementally. just an additional 5lbs every 2 weeks. don't go so high that you lose good posture. and training to failure isn't really necessary, as long as you're gaining enough strength to increase the weight every couple of weeks.
i would say 10 minutes of cardio is plenty to reap the vascular benefits. overdo it and you could end up losing your hair and start getting pizza face like a highschool kid

That's total bollocks man. If you wanna look like that you gotta be an addict. And he looked fucking amazing.

Again, this is bollocks. Ten minutes in you've barely even increased your heartrate and you're only just touching the benefits.
