Same. Since I started bjj in January, Ive gained about 10 lbs. Im consistently eating about 2500 cals a day, but Im gaining super slow so I need to bump things up a bit. I would like to about at 150 for my height.

Feels like I could add another 10-20 pounds easily, but that's the same confidence that got my knees hurt in the first place.
Ive been on the 5x5 strong lift program for a few weeks. Im 5'10", maybe 135-140 depending on the time of day. I was doing bjj several days a week which is intense cardio, and I cant gain any fucking weight. Maybe a few pounds, but not much. Eating about 2500 cals a day. Ive decided to cut back a bit on training aNd focus more on strength and lifting. My current deadlift is 125lbs. Squat is 70 lbs. I started super low with everything as I havent lifted in years and I dont wanna fuck anything up. I feel like Im making progress though. Every day the weights get heaver and Im still able to get through my set with good form. I'd like to be about 150lbs for my height. I think with a little more weight and more muscle definition my shit is gonna be rockin
Progress is slow, but its still progress

Couple years ago. I was wwoofing on a farm in florida. They had an open outdoor shower in the forest that was powered by pumping up well water. Super fucking amazing just being naked in the middle of nowhere having a nice cold shower.

God damn how would that be? I think my ex gained about 60 lbs in the 5 years we were together. It was kind of a bummer because, well, looks matter in a healthy sexual relationship. Now that we're divorcing she works out like everyday and is becoming an instagram gym rat. Im like dude wtf? I couldnt drag her ass off the couch to exercise with me if I tried.

Because when people strike gold they stop digging. That soul-crushing loneliness and depression after ending a relationship is perfect gym motivation.

Checking in
Still on the 5x5 lifting program and still making good progress. I went to a yoga class last night and it was difficult as fuck. I really enjoyed it. I had some brief moments of pure euphoria towards the end of class during some breathing exercises. I think I'm gonna try to incorporate it into my regular training

Dude right!? I left the class feeling like I was coming down from an acid trip. I was lucid af.
One of my main fitness goals is to be able to do a hand stand pushup. I've been working the upper body with good strength training. The yoga will definitely help with the balance and coordination

Ive also hit my caloric goals every day this week

Is it normal to not be sore after lifting? From what I understand, doms is caused by muscle tearing after exercise which is necessary for muscle repair and growth. I make progress every day and the weights continually get heavier, but Im not sore the day after. I even lift to failure sometimes. Still not sore.

BeefSupremeJr said: Releative adaptation principal. Increase the pace as well as reps. If you’re training for hypertrophy (bigger muscles) you want low reps high resistance, high pace. If not, then don’t worry about it. Maintain what you have and work on balance and endurance. Ancillary muscles need attention too.
Intervals are just as critical as the actual set. Get a timer and hold yourself accountable. No more than 20 second rests. I prefer 15. Hope that helps you get sore.
Im honestly just trying to put on mass. I'm following the progressive overload principle (5x5), so I started light but things are quickly getting heavier. Also, is rest time really that critical? It seems like I could ask 5 people and get 5 different answers. My current rest times between sets are maybe 1-2 minutes. I've noticed that the longer I rest, the easier it is to complete the next set. Still, Im not sore the next day.

Updaaate
Still consistent with my strength training 3x a week 5x5 routine. Ive added weighted chinups using a dip belt. I've managed to gain 6 lbs in 5 weeks which is a huge achievement for me. I dont see a big difference in my physical appearance quite yet, but I see a huge difference in the numbers. Im only 7 weeks in so theres still plenty room for change and improvement

This girl I've been dating squats like 230. Easily 100 lbs more than where Im currently at lmao. She fucking puts me to shame. My 10 rep deadlift is at 200 though, so I'm not totally emasculated in front of her

Im still at it 3x a week! Thats 3 months of consistent lifting. My newb gains kinda plateaud and my weight gain is slowing, but its still at about 0.5 lb a week, which is actually not that bad at all. Im adding more weight to the bar every day and Im starting to notice small changes in my physique. Its slow progress, but its still progress.
